Google’s Nexus 6 is said to be based on the LG G3

The LG G3 may not be released just yet, but it seems that the upcoming flagship device by LG may be forming the basis for the next Nexus 6 by Google if recent reports are anything to go by.
Whilst the Nexus 6 is touted for the second half of 2014, not much else is known about the device, but it seems LG will continue their partnership with Google and the hardware will be based around the LG G3, with the addition of an integrated fingerprint sensor.
If true, the Nexus 6 could follow the design language of the LG G3 with the slimmer bezels, but is likely to only feature a 5.2-inch screen at 1440 x 2560 resolution, as opposed to the rumoured 5.5-inch of the LG G3, which would give sufficient room for a fingerprint sensor placed on the front of the device much like the Galaxy S5, without increasing the size of the device too much.
It’s also thought that the Snapdragon 805 SoC with a quad-core 2.7 GHz 450 CPU and Adreno 420 GPU will power the Nexus 6, as Qualcomm state their chips will be seen powering devices in the second half of 2014.
If all this is true, the Nexus 6 is shaping up to be one mighty device.

LG says “Save the Date” for May 27th, is the LG G3 almost Here?
We’ve been hearing a lot more about the rumoured LG flagship that is supposed to succeed the LG G2. Assumed to be called the LG G3, we’ve already gotten a look at what the device might look like and we know that it likely carries over the rear volume buttons that debuted on the LG G2. LG has thrown more fuel on the fire after they sent out invites to a press event on May 27th (or 28th, depending on where you are in the world) for an undisclosed product. Naturally, this begs the question: is the LG G3 almost here?
While the announcement realistically could be for anything that LG manufacturers (TVs and homewares included), the “G” in the word “Great” does look awfully like the “G” in the LG G2 press materials, albeit, slightly more rounded. It does look like a pretty big hint that the product they are announcing will be a G-branded device and the best bet we have is for the LG G3. So far, we can only speculate what specs the device might have, but judging by its closest competitors, a LG G3 would struggle mightily if it didn’t at least have the new Snapdragon 801 processor, and will likely benefit from the OIS+ enhanced camera that was showcased on the LG G Pro 2.
What do you think about a possible launch of the LG G3 in May? Would you consider the device? Let us know your thoughts.

LG G3 to be released on May 27th

Following a variety of hints at the rear button layout of the LG G3, and even LG pre-empting financial success with the launch of the yet to be released device, LG have finally set a date for the release of the LG G3.
The Korean company have issued invites for six events across the world on May 27th and May 28th with San Francisco, New York, and London holding simultaneous gatherings for the launch of a new product. Seoul, Singapore, and Istanbul will follow the next day.
Whilst LG haven’t actually confirmed the name of the device, it seems safe to assume that given the leaks we’ve seen over the last few weeks, the unnamed device will be LG G3.
LG’s teasing message for the event reads “To be simple is to be Great”. What this means exactly will all become clear at their event next month, but could we see a stock Android build on the LG G3?

LG confirms the LG G3 in their Q1 2014 earnings report

Clever marketing or a typo? It seems like LG just confirmed that the LG G3 is on its way to market during their Q1 2014 earnings report published today, after seeing a leak of what was suspected to be the actual device.
Whilst reporting their increased 6 percent profit and attributing their success to the LG G2, LG then continue to state that even higher revenues are expected in the second quarter of 2014 with the launch of the LG G3.
Revenues of KRW 3.41 trillion (USD 3.19 billion) increased 6 percent year-on-year and operating profit margins rose quarter-on-quarter due to the launch of G Pro 2 in the domestic market and more efficient marketing spending. Higher revenues are expected in the second quarter with the release of the flagship LG G3 smartphone and wider roll-out of the mass-tier L Series III.
Not only have LG confirmed the existance of the G3 device, but also gave a window to expect it. With the company expecting to see increased revenue from the LG G3 release as soon as Q2 of 2014, we can expect to see the new flagship handset launching very soon.

Alleged first look at LG G3 backside

LG will once again employ the rear volume and power button configuration for the successor to the G2 smartphone. That is, of course, provided these recently leaked photos prove to be legitimate. In one image we see what appears to be the back side of the device while the other alleges to be a protective case for the phone.

Assuming the image of the smartphone is real, the buttons have undergone a slight change in layout and look. Not that we would expect otherwise. Flanking the camera we have two objects, one of which we figure is a flash. The other, as some point out, could be a fingerprint sensor or hear rate monitor.
It’s worth pointing out that the case does not look like it would match up perfectly; proceed with caution. Otherwise, we’re cool with the look and think it works well for LG.

LG G3 leaked picture shows the same back mounted keys

The upcoming LG G3 has been getting quite a bit of attention recently, and now we have a picture to go along with the details. Whilst it’s not the best quality. it does show a fair bit of detail.
From the image we can see that the upcoming LG G3 retains the same rear mounted keys as found on the previous generation LG G2, although they appear to have been given a redesign. In addition, there appears to be an additional sensor alongside the rear camera of which its function still appears to be unknown, even among all the previous leaks we’ve been hearing.
The notepad behind the device seem to indicate the specs of what can be assumed to be the LG G3, which show OIS+ as well as 16GB and 32GB storage variants. The 2GB and 3GB references seem to indicate the amount of RAM offered with the LG G3, which would put it on par/above the current flagship devices offered.

Suspected LG G3 is spotted in leaked photo, still rocking rear volume Buttons
Rumours surrounding the LG G3 have been seeing quite a lot of attention ever since it was suggested that a new LG flagship could be released as soon as May. While LG has given very little indication if this is the case (or otherwise), leaks have been piling up anyway with looks at its suspected UI and code outputs that give suggested hardware specifications. This time, we’re treated to a photo of the rumoured device itself and most notably you will notice that the device it still adopts the rear volume buttons that were featured on the LG G2.
On the piece of paper behind the alleged LG G3 are some scribblings that seem to suggest that the G3 would be available as 16GB and 32GB versions and also we see the mention of OIS+, a feature that first debuted on the LG G Pro 2. Interestingly, it also mentions both 2GB and 3GB RAM, though it is unclear if this implies there are two versions of the G3 or if this is some kind of planning material. For me, the photo seems a little too posed and too convenient, however, it must be said that the design of the phone does line up with some cases that were leaked just yesterday.
What do you think about the design of the LG G3? Are you considering getting the device when it eventually releases? Let us know what you think in the comments.

Leaked Screenshots Show Off New UI of the LG G3

Expected to get an official reveal soon, the LG G3 has garnered a lot of attention. With the most notable rumors suggesting an ultra-high resolution screen, it seems only fair to know what interface will grace that rumored 2560 x 1440 pixel display.
The fine folks over at Digital Trends have gotten their hands on pictures of what seems to be the new user interface that will be on the LG G3 at launch.
The new UI sports a flatter, more modern look that’s clean and lacks the “busy” feel of the UI found on the G2/G Pro 2.
It seems that everything about the UI is getting a revamp. The notification shade seems to be transparent, the quick toggles are now round instead of square, and the QSlide app icons seem to be slightly larger.
Also of note, LG is rumored to have developed a type of “concierge-style” service within the UI that will learn from your use of the phone and give you valuable information that will aid you throughout the day. If you take a look at the weather widget, you can see the service in action suggesting that an umbrella may be in order.
If the rumors are correct, the new UI is a much needed change and LG should benefit from modernizing their outdated user interface.

Leaks hint at a sleeker UI and a Google Now-like service on the LG G3
The latest rumors about LG’s G3 handset have mentioned a Quad HD display, but now it’s time to take a look at what you’ll see on that screen. According to leaked screenshots acquired by Digital Trends, the upcoming smartphone will feature a completely new interface with a flat design and brighter icons, along with a revamped notification drawer with circular icons. The screens show a phone UI that’s leaps and bounds sleeker than what you’ll find on the G2, and it’s a more than a tad reminiscent of Apple’s aesthetics in iOS 7.
An improved design is one thing, but the leaked screens also hint at some new functionality. The G3 appears to offer a concierge-like personalization tool, which apparently pulls in weather and other info à la Google Now. Digital Trends‘ source says LG’s software will “go beyond Google’s system,” which likely means a huge focus on learning your habits in order to deliver better suggestions.
