Motorola will launch many “exciting products” this summer
Motorola will be launching a handful of “exciting products” this summer. Lenovo’s chief executive Yang Yuanqing spoke to The Telegraph at the company’s TechWorld event in Beijing last month to discuss the matter.
We haven’t seen much from Motorola since Lenovo acquired the company, but that could change very soon. “We have many new models in development with the Moto brands,” Yuanqing said, “so you may see in summer us launching some very exciting products, including phones and watches.”
In other words, Motorola fans will be able to purchase an all-new Moto X this year. He mentioned that the company has many “new models in development with the Moto brands.” In addition to a new Moto X, we could see a new Moto 360 smartwatch as well, which has been rumored extensively.
It doesn’t look like the Moto brand will be stopping anytime soon either, as Lenovo has plans to bring the brand to other markets where the company has seen success, such as India and China.
“There are some markets though, like India and China, where we can certainly have two brands, and that will also allow us to be more competitive in those markets as well,” he said.
The Moto brand has seen some great success since its original launch with the Moto X (2013). There’s no doubt it will do well in India and China where Lenovo has seen great success thus far, either.
As for the new Moto X coming out this year, Lenovo says they’re sticking with the pure Android experience, and they currently have no plans to offer another operating system besides Android like other company’s are beginning to provide.
“There are no plans to start launching operating systems other than Android. One of the key differentiators for us is the pure Android experience, and we’re deeply proud of that, because we believe it brings a much better software experience to consumers, and faster upgrades,” he said.
One thing is for sure, Lenovo hopes to continue putting the customer first by continuing to offer a pure Android experience, which will allow the company to push out faster upgrades for its devices.
Lenovo has thus far done a phenomenal job at making sure its products are running the latest version of Android, while other companies are leaving old flagships in the past.

Leaked spec list for Lenovo’s upcoming flagship smartphone surface online
It was just last week that Lenovo’s upcoming flagship smartphone of 2015, bearing the model number PB1-770N, passed through China’s official certification database, TENAA, and now a leaked specifications list for the handset has popped up online revealing details of its internals.
In terms of dimensions, the device measures 186.6 x 96.6 x 7.7mm and weighs in at 230g — so it’s neither thin nor lightweight which may have something to do with whats under the hood.
The handset will pack a whopping 6.8-inch Full HD display, an unidentified 1.5GHz octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter and 3,500 mAh non-removable battery.
That’s all the information we have on the PB1-770N for now, but be sure to check back as we’ll definitely be hearing more about this smartphone over the course of the next few days/weeks.

Massive 6.8-inch Lenovo phone visits TENAA
With the leaks season in full swing it’s now time to see what Lenovo is up in the smartphone game. As you’ll see below a giant Lenovo phablet with the model PB1-770N has been spotted at TENAA. Indeed, this one could have an absurdly huge 6.8-inch display.
Measuring 186.6 x 96.6 x 7.7 mm, it’s nice to see Lenovo has maintained a relatively thin device at 7.7 mm. This is pretty impressive stuff considering there’s a huge 3500 mAh battery inside.
Reportedly, the device comes with 4G LTE connectivity, with support for TD-LTE, FDD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, CDMA2000, CDMA 1X and GSM network bands. Lenovo’s huge phablet is said to be running a version of Android (probably Lollipop) with Lenovo’s custom UI on top.
The body from the back looks much like that of an iPhone 6, a metal unibody construction perhaps. In regards to the display, the whopping 6.8-inches puts it merely 0.2 inches short of being declared a tablet with calling capabilities. The Lenovo phone is similar to Huawei’s recently announced P8Max.
The TENAA listing doesn’t mention any other specifications about the phablet, but it is expected to be running on a high end processor, probably a 64 bit octa-core and at least 3 GB of RAM. Will you prefer Lenovo’s phablet or Huawei P8Max? Do you think such a big phone is overkill or unwieldly?

Rumor: Moto X (2015) will feature a fingerprint scanner
The latest rumors surrounding Motorola’s highly anticipated Moto X refresh for 2015 is that the upcoming flagship will opt for a fingerprint scanner, as we’re beginning to see in many flagship devices.
Photos were posted online of the alleged Moto X’s chassis. Pictured above, you can see that all of the internals have been gutted out, except for a small square cutout, which seems to be the housing for a fingerprint scanner.
As far as the design of the upcoming Moto X refresh goes, there’s not much to go off here, besides the form factor we’ve come to know and love over the past two versions of the device.
Past rumors have suggested that the Moto X (2015) will feature a Snapdragon 808 chipset, 4GB of RAM, and a 16-megapixel rear camera.
We’ll have to wait for some official confirmation, as we get closer to Motorola’s release for its next flagship device.

Moto G 2015 Release Date Next Month, Hints Lenovo CEO
Yibada reports that Lenovo’s chairman and CEO, Yang Yuanqing, tells that the company is preparing for the release of products this summer.
In a statement to The Telegraph, Yuanqing explained, “We have many new models in development with the Moto brands. So you may see us launching some very exciting products, including phones and watches.”
It is expected that one of these phones will be the Moto G 2015. After all, the first ever Moto G was released in November 2013, and the second generation variant came out 10 months later in September 2014. If this is a planned 10-month release cycle, then the Moto G 2015 should be revealed in July.
Of course, this is just speculation that has not been confirmed by the company. At least we’ll know what these products will be next month.

Motorola Moto X (2015) tipped to feature a 5.2″ QHD display
GSMArena has info on leaks of the upcoming Motorola Moto X (2015) (model name XT1542).
Reportedly via an image, the smartphone will have a 5.2″ 1440 x 2560p AMOLED display. A 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and 4GB of RAM will be inside the unit.
In a later update, GSMArena received a second image of a device with the same model number, which makes the rumor a bit more credible. According to this photo, the Moto X (2015) will run Android 5.1.1. It will also have a 16MP rear-facing camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, and either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. All of this will be powered by a 3,280 mAh battery.
Currently, there is no word on the smartphone’s release date, as of yet.

Inside Taipei’s huge tech wonderland of a mall
Taipei isn’t really lacking in gadget shopping options, but, even so, the recently launched Syntrend Creative Park is noteworthy. A joint project between electronics supplier Hon Hai and Taipei’s government, Syntrend is a massive 12-story tech-focused mall covering more than two acres. And it’s got plenty of notable tenants, including storefronts from Intel, Samsung, Sony, Asus and Lenovo. For the most part, it’s a place for you to relax and check out new gear. Imagine an Apple Store-like experience for dozens of tech brands across a high-end mall, and you’ll get the idea. Now that we’ve pretty much seen all there is at Computex, we took a stroll through Syntrend to see if it really deserves to be likened to Tokyo’s Akihabara district.
After spending an entire morning at the mall, I came away mostly impressed. it was surprisingly barren (then again, I visited during a weekday morning), and there are plenty of small stores that just sell phone cases and accessories. But it was nice to be able to go to a single spot to see tech offerings from plenty of companies. There are also cafes and interactive exhibits throughout Syntrend, as well as an entire floor dedicated to activities for kids. It’s something that both nerds and families could turn into a day-long trip.
While only seven of the mall’s 12 floors were open when I stopped by, there was still more than enough to check out. All of the floors have different themes: the first, “Look,” includes Intel’s Concept store and a stylish HTC store, while the fifth floor, “Listen,” is devoted to audio gear. It’s kind of kitschy, but it was a nice way to conceive of everything happening in the mall.

Lenovo’s Windows 10 devices will get unique Cortana features
Microsoft’s chatty Cortana is one of the more well-liked parts of Windows Phone, and Lenovo is making it more versatile on its own PCs with ReachIt. It exploits the voice assistant to find your own photos, documents and email across multiple Lenovo Windows 10 PCs, tablets, and even cloud services like OneDrive or Dropbox. The app is personalized with a user-specific Lenovo ID, letting you search for content on, say, your Lenovo laptop remotely from a ThinkPad tablet. It also uses location services, helping you locate a file by making a vague request like “Cortana, find the picture I worked on at Starbucks last week,” according to Lenovo.
Microsoft’s Cortana search will also arrive to any PC once Windows 10 comes out. However, Lenovo has extended its capability a bit with ReachIt, letting it search your personal info across several devices; provided they’re from Lenovo, we’d assume. We’re wondering if Microsoft might do something similar — the ability to search your PC from Cortana using an Android and iOS device would be pretty handy.

Lenovo unveils its Smart Cast concept, a smartphone with a built-in laser projector
If you’ve been hankering after a smartphone with a built-in projector, Lenovo may well have you covered. At its TechWorld conference in Beijing today, the Chinese company unveiled a smartphone concept that included a built-in laser projector that can turn any flat surface into a keyboard that you can type on.
The Lenovo Smart Cast has a couple of other neat tricks up its sleeve, the first one being the ability to play a virtual musical keyboard, where you can create music in real-time with no discernible lag. You can even project the image of your favourite game on to a surface and control the game by swiping on the projected image. The smartphone recognises your gestures and converts them into commands.
The second nifty feature is that by rotating the projector and laying it flat on a table, for example, you can display your media content onto a nearby wall.
Naturally, being a concept, it’s unclear whether Lenovo will ever put the Smart Cast smartphone into production, but it is a sign that the Chinese company is attempting to think outside of the box in terms of smartphone development, much like it does with its range of laptops.
We have some a video and some more pictures for you to look at below and don’t forget you can follow our Google I/O 2015 coverage right here.
