The Samsung Galaxy Tab PRO’s both feature a 2560 x 1600 resolution display and run the latest Android 4.4 KitKat. Included with the tablets is Samsung’s new Magazine UX, which has come under some scrunteny from Google for detracting away from the general look of Android, to a point where it is nearly indistinguishable.

The Galaxy Tab PRO 10.1 is powered by an Exynos octa-core 1.9GHz and 1.3GHz CPU, with the smaller Tab running with a 2.3GHz quad-core CPU.

Shipping will commence from March 4th for both the white and black versions of the 10.1 and 8.4 Galaxy Tab PRO.

T-Mobile HTC One’s KitKat update coming this week, AT&T “likely” next week

T-Mobile and AT&T HTC One owners waiting for the update to Android 4.4.2 KitKat don’t have to wait too much longer.

On Tuesday, Jason Mackenzie, president of HTC America, took to Twitter and answered a few customer questions about the updates.

Mackenzie said that the update for the T-Mobile version will be coming later this week, while the update for the AT&T version will be “likely last week of Feb(ruary),” which is already next week.

The update for all US versions of the One were originally expected before the end of January, but carrier testing took more time than HTC anticipated.

Once the update arrives, it should hold all you HTC One owners over until “The All New One,” the rumored HTC M8, is announced March 25.

KitKat Update to land for T-Mobile HTC One this week, AT&T Next Week

HTC and Jason Mackenzie have been doing a pretty good job of not only getting updates to the latest Android offering out, but also being open and honest about them. While they did miss their 90 targets, it has only been a few weeks off. That certainly beats a couple months off like we have seen in the past. A recommitment to keeping updates for various HTC devices transparent was made just the other day when they announced the new HTC Advantage program. In a recent set of Twitter conversations picked up by HTC Source, HTC’s Jason Mackenzie let the questioning users know when the should expect to see the much anticipated Android 4.4.2 update for the HTC One on T-Mobile and AT&T.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat update T-Mobile HTC OneAs you see, Jason offers up no specific date. That is just fine as he states this week for T-Mobile and the last week of February for AT&T. We haven’t seen anyone with a T-Mobile HTC One saying they have the update yet, but it is only Wednesday. When the update does start to roll out though you can expect it to be rolled out in stages and take a few weeks for every owner to see it hit their device.

For T-Mobile users, we suggest you keep an eye on your notifications and keep your device charged up for when it does start going out. WHen we start caching wind of it, we will be sure to let you guys know.

Samsung details KitKat update plans for US Galaxy phones and tabs

samsung-galaxy-s-iii-sprint-cross

Some of Samsung’s Galaxy devices are already getting Android 4.4.2, but today we found out exactly which ones in the US will get a taste of KitKat. The full list is a mouthful. The Galaxy S III, Galaxy S III mini, Galaxy S 4, Galaxy S 4 mini, Galaxy S 4 Active, Galaxy S 4 zoom, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Mega, Galaxy Light, Galaxy Note 8.0, Galaxy Note 10.1, Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, and Galaxy Tab 3 are all on the waiting list.

Sadly, even though part of Google’s goal with KitKat was to bring a refined Android experience to “the next billion people,” slightly older hardware like the Galaxy S II are conspicuously absent from the list. Samsung says the updates have already started trickling out, though it didn’t mention which device (or devices) were at the head of the line. How quickly you get the update depends on what you have and how quickly your carrier can get it certified. So, just take a deep breath and keep an eye on Samsung’s MWC announcements in the meantime.

LG’s L Series III budget smartphones tout KitKat and smart covers

LG L Series III smartphones

LG isn’t just bringing high-end smartphones like the G Pro 2 to Mobile World Congress — it’s also launching its L Series III phones for the budget-minded among us. The 3.5-inch L40, 4.5-inch L70 and 4.7-inch L90 are subtle evolutions of the Optimus L II range in terms of hardware. All of them sport faster 1.2GHz dual-core processors and refined designs that are more in line with the company’s higher-end devices. There’s a larger 1GB of RAM on the L70 and L90, too. However, the real stars of the show are the L Series III’s software and accessories. They’re some of the first big-name budget phones to run Google’s efficient Android 4.4 KitKat; they’re also LG’s first non-flagship devices to support optional Quick Window covers, letting you check an incoming call without exposing the whole screen. There’s no word as to when these third-generation handsets will hit store shelves, although they’re built for markets where 3G data is the best you’ll get. In other words, don’t expect them to reach LTE-obsessed American carriers any time soon.

Samsung Galaxy S4 on Sprint now getting Android 4.4 KitKat

Though Samsung kindly bestowed Android 4.4 KitKat onto the Google Play edition of its Galaxy S4 late last year, the TouchWiz variants of the same phone have not received the same attention, at least in the US. That ends today, however, as Sprint is finally rolling out said update to the Galaxy S4, making it the first US carrier to do so. This means that GS4 users on Sprint will finally get to enjoy the benefits of KitKat, such as better security, full-screen mode and of course, the new Hangouts. Sprint’s changelog also indicates that the update will add Zact Mobile compatibility to the phone. There’s been a sizable user demand for KitKat from GS4 owners, so hopefully this update shows that their phone is still relevant. Especially, you know, as there might be a successor coming up any day now.

KitKat Update Rolling out for Sprint Galaxy S4 Owners

Samsung Galaxy S4 Sprint ANdroid 4.4.2 KitKatLooks like it could be a very happy Valentines Day for you guys rocking a Samsung Galaxy S4 on Sprint. Sprint has announced that the rollout of the the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update has begun today. The update will jump to software version L720VPUFNAE.

In typical fashion the update is rolling out in phases beginning today and is expected to be completed by March 9th. We have read conflicting arguments on if manually checking for the update really does any good or not. It doesn’t hurt to try, right? Head into Menu > Settings > More > System Update> Update Samsung Software > Check Now. Be sure you have ample charge on your device, a solid Wi-Fi connection and some time for the update to download. If you do happen to pick it up let us know in the comments. Particularly the file size as Sprint failed to mention that one.
