Apple Sends ‘Shot on iPhone 6’ Photographers Special Photo Books
The photographers who had their photos featured in an assortment of billboards and TV ads for the “Shot on iPhone 6” ad campaign Apple ran to promote its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have begun receiving a set of special coffee table photo books that include their artwork.

Cult of Mac spoke to photographer Brendan Ó Sé, one of the lucky few to receive one of the books after having his photo featured as part of the campaign. He said the cloth-covered high-quality books came as a surprise and were even shipped with a set of white gloves for viewing.

“It was totally out of the blue,” photographer Brendan Ó Sé, of Cork, Ireland, told Cult of Mac. “Naturally, I looked for my own photo, but seeing those of the friends I’ve made over this campaign added to the surprise and thrill.”
One of the books, “The Photographs” includes the photos that were used in the ad campaign, while the other, “The Gallery,” features shots of the photographs on billboards around the world. With the billboards now largely replaced with new content for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, the photo books serve as a memento for those who had their iPhone 6 images included in the campaign.

Ó Sé’s photograph was taken in Berlin, but the ads that went up around the world featured a wide assortment of images from places like United States, Canada, Japan, Iceland, South Korea, China, Scotland, Indonesia, Thailand and New Zealand. In total, more than 77 photographers across 70 cities and 40 countries were featured.

Hands-On With the New Plex App for the Apple TV
Earlier this week, Plex released its highly anticipated app for the tvOS App Store, making Plex officially available on the Apple TV for the first time. Given Plex’s popularity, we decided to check out the new app and do a quick video overview for those who might be interested in getting a new Apple TV to use with Plex.
Plex is a media server and personal library that’s able to organize the media stored on your computer, like videos, TV shows, music, and stream that content to iOS devices, the Apple TV, and other set-top boxes.
When you install Plex and let it organize your content, it’ll add artwork to movies, TV shows, and music, along with information like cast members, plot summaries, and Rotten Tomatoes ratings. On the Apple TV, this turns into a nicely organized media library that largely resembles iTunes or Netflix.

Plex has been available for a long time on set-top devices like the Chromecast and the Fire TV, but it has not previously been available on older versions of the Apple TV in an official capacity. Those who have jailbroken an Apple TV in the past have been able to unofficially install the Plex software.
The Plex app for the Apple TV can be downloaded from the tvOS App Store. The app is free to download, and unlike the iOS version does not require a $4.99 in-app purchase or Plex Pass subscription to unlock functionality. Flickr takes advantage of iOS 9 and your iPhone 6s

Google Maps for iOS speaks out traffic warnings while you drive
If you’re carrying an iPhone, Google Maps just got much more helpful in those moments when you’re determined to avoid gridlock. As on Android, Maps’ iOS app now speaks out traffic warnings in navigation mode. You’ll get a verbal summary of conditions before you start moving, and alerts for any congestion or crashes while you’re on your way. Is this a simple addition? You bet — but it could mean a lot if it helps you take a detour.

Official Plex App Now Available for New Apple TV
The much-anticipated Plex app for the Apple TV is available for download on the new set-top box as of today, allowing users to stream content from their computers to the Apple TV using the Plex Media Server software. First announced in September, the official Plex app was still in review when the new Apple TV launched last Friday, but it’s now been approved.
For those unfamiliar with Plex, it’s a media server and personal library for content like TV shows, movies, and music. It’s designed to organize personal media collections, allowing videos and music to be streamed to TVs and other devices, locally and remotely.

Browser-Based iOS 9.1/9.2 Jailbreak Wins $1M Bounty, Will Be Sold for Corporate and Government Use
Earlier this month, exploit acquisition platform Zerodium debuted an iOS 9 bug bounty that would pay out up to three million dollars to hackers who managed to develop a browser-based untethered jailbreak for iOS 9, which it could then sell to clients interested in shelling out a lot of money to gain illicit access to iOS devices.
The contest expired at the end of October, and Zerodium today announced one hacking team had successfully created a browser-based jailbreak for iOS 9.1 and iOS 9.2, the latest versions of iOS 9, earning $1 million.
Zerodium foundar Chaouki Bekrar told Wired that the exploit developed by the hackers will be given to its customers, which include major technology, finance, and defense corporations, along with government agencies. The contest rules required the exploit to be achievable remotely without requiring user interaction beyond reading a text message or visiting a website via Chrome or Safari on an iOS device.
Bekrar confirmed that Zerodium plans to reveal the technical details of the technique to its customers, whom the company has described as “major corporations in defense, technology, and finance” seeking zero-day attack protection as well as “government organizations in need of specific and tailored cybersecurity capabilities.”
Because it’s selling the jailbreak (“likely” to U.S. customers only), Zerodium does not plan to report the vulnerabilities in the operating system to Apple, though Bekrar says the company may share the details at a later date. The jailbreak also won’t be provided to the general public, but Bekrar says Zerodium announced the results of the contest to remind people that while iOS security is “very hardened,” it’s not unbreakable.

Apple’s iPad Pro may go on sale November 11th
With Apple’s iPad business continuing to slow down, the upcoming iPad Pro is one of the more important products in the company’s pipeline. Apple introduced it in early September but declined to give a release date, only saying it would arrive sometime in November. For Apple, that usually means the end of the month, but it seems that’s not the case this time. According to the well-connected Mark Gurman at 9to5Mac, Apple’s 12.9-inch iPad should go on sale on Wednesday, November 11th both online and in stores. Alongside the giant new tablet, Apple will also start selling its new Pencil stylus and Smart Keyboard for $99 and $169, respectively. If you’re ready to buy into Apple’s vision of a big-screen tablet, get ready to dive deep into your wallet: the iPad Pro starts at $799 for 32GB of storage and goes all the way up to $1,079 for 128GB of storage and LTE connectivity.

Adobe’s Photoshop iOS apps are ready for use on the iPad Pro
If you’re a designer or photographer, you’re likely champing at the bit to get your hands on an iPad Pro for creative work. To prep for the larger slate’s arrival, Adobe updated both Photoshop Fix and Photoshop Mix to take advantage of the tablet’s tools. The duo of apps play nice with iOS 9’s split-screen multi-tasking, wrangle larger image sizes (Adobe didn’t specify how large, though) and offer “basic” support for that newfangled Pencil. Of course, you’ll be able to make use of that split-screen feature on other iPads as well. New versions of both apps are available over at iTunes via the source links down below.

Apple Stops Signing iOS 9.0.2, Downgrading From iOS 9.1 No Longer Possible
As of today, Apple has stopped signing iOS 9.0.2 for compatible iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch models, meaning users can no longer upgrade or downgrade to that version of iOS using iTunes. Apple is now signing iOS 9.1 and later only.
With Apple no longer signing iOS 9.0.2, those who wish to downgrade to jailbreak their devices are not able to do so. iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users with jailbroken devices will need to refrain from updating beyond iOS 9.0.2 as the iOS 9.1 update fixes the exploits used for the jailbreak.
The untethered iOS 9 jailbreak was released for iOS devices just two weeks ago on October 14 by Pangu. It works for iOS 9, iOS 9.0.1, and iOS 9.0.2.

Apple TV Games from Pangea Software Support 3DTVs
Pangea Software today announced that all of its tvOS apps designed for the new fourth-generation Apple TV include support for 3DTVs, allowing users to play the company’s games in 3D.

Developer Steven Troughton-Smith shared an image of Pangea Software game Bugdom 2 in 3D on the Apple TV earlier today, after which the company confirmed in a press release that its entire lineup of apps will offer 3DTV support. The 3DTV support is implemented using side-by-side 3D, which is a standard 3D implementation technique compatible with all 3DTVs.

All of Pangea’s games have the capability of playing in stereo-3D on any HDTV which is 3DTV capable. This not only adds an extra visual element to the games, but in many cases it gives the player an advantage since 3D makes it easier to aim weapons and calculate jumps. Additionally, all of the games are Game Controller compatible, so they can be played with either the Siri Remote or with any tvOS compatible Gamepad.
Pangea Software offers a wide range of games in the iOS App Store that are available on tvOS as of today, including Air Wings, Nanosaur 2, Nucleus, Otto Matic, and Bugdom 2. In the future, additional games from the company will be available for the Apple TV, including Cro-Mag Rally and Air Wings Intergalactic.
