Huawei delays launch of its SmartWatch to September-October in China
Huawei’s Watch was first unveiled at MWC back in March, and it is still one of the better-looking Android Wear devices around. There is no set shipping date for the Huawei Watch just yet, although it is available to pre-order in most countries. Not in China though, availability of the Huawei Watch has been delayed until at least September, although October hasn’t been ruled out if things don’t go to plan.
It all stems down to Google having left the Chinese market due to disagreements with the Chinese government. This means that Google’s Services won’t work in China, which has left Huawei with the task of adapting Android Wear to use its own services. Obviously this isn’t going to be a quick fix. As yet, Google hasn’t given any indication as to if and when it will re-enter the Chinese market.

Leaked screenshot confirms Huawei Honor 7 specs
Earlier today, a leaked screenshot appeared online revealing the specifications of Huawei’s upcoming flagship smartphone of 2015, the Honor 7. In the image below, the handset displays some pretty impressive internals and carries the model number PLK-AL10.
Hit the break below to find out more.
The Honor 7 is set to sport a 5-inch Full HD display, a HiSilicon Kirin 935 octa-core chipset, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD), a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 3,280 mAh battery.
Once unboxed and charged the device will run the latest build of Android 5.1 Lollipop skinned with Huawei’s own Emotion custom user interface, which the company claims “makes it easier to navigate around your device.”
The Honor 7 is expected to launch in July for CNY 2,699 ($435).

Ascend Mate 7 running Lollipop shown off on video

Huawei isn’t known for updating its handsets to the latest Android OS but the company is trying to change this and its flagship Ascend Mate 7 phablet looks set to be updated to the goodies that Android Lollipop. A new video has shown off exactly what the update to Lollipop will bring for Ascend Mate 7 owners and although it doesn’t confirm when the update will land, it’s nice to see that Huawei hasn’t forgotten about its customers.
The video shows that the Mate 7 will gain a new split-screen multitasking mode – similar to the feature offered by LG and Samsung – which allows you to run two applications side-by-side (or on top of each other depending on the orientation of your device). Other notable additions include the ability to quickly minimise the display and improvements to the one-handed interface mode, which makes it easy to use the large 6 inch display in one hand.
The Ascend Mate 7 was expected to be the first of Huawei’s existing devices to be updated to Android Lollipop last month but the update was seemingly delayed. One possible reason for the delay is that Huawei have skipped Android 5.0 and gone straight to Android 5.1 from Android 4.4 KitKat. However, the other reason could be the issues that have plagued the company’s Huawei P8 flagship, which is also running on Android Lollipop with Emotion 3.1 UI on top.

In its flagship – which hasn’t been released yet so the company has time to fix the issues – Huawei have used Google‘s latest OS but failed to adopt material design properly so there are several interface features that don’t quite work (such as the status bar being a different color to material design in applications). Other notable issues include Android Wear not working with the flagship and problems with the display of notifications but the company should have fixed these as part of the Android 5.1 update.
It’s unknown exactly when Huawei will begin rolling out the update to Mate 7 users but the video suggests its nearing rollout; like most devices, the update rollout is likely to be staggered across regions and carriers. We’ll keep an eye out for the update and let you know when it begins rolling out.

All-metal Honor 7 leaks, launches June 24

Huawei may have announced its P8 Lite smartphone in the US last week but the company’s not stopping there with a new leak showing off its upcoming Honor 7 smartphone in pictures. The Honor 7 has been rumoured numerous times and the latest leak shows off that the Honor 7 will feature an all-metal build which is almost identical to the company’s Ascend Mate 7 flagship phablet.
The leak reveals that the fingerprint sensor from the Ascend Mate 7 will also make it to the Honor 7 and the handset will feature 4G LTE connectivity, supporting the TD-LTE, FDD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, CDMA2000, CDMA 1X and GSM network bands. Interestingly, the connectivity bands suggest this particular variant is headed to China and while it could make an appearance in Europe and the USA, I’d definitely expect the list of bands supported to be expanded.
setTimeout(function()
brightcove.createExperiences();
,
3000);
Previous rumours have suggested that the Honor 7 will feature a 5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixel) display, which offers 441 pixels per inch density. It’s expected to be powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 935 processor – which also powers the Huawei P8 flagship – with a choice of two storage/RAM configurations. The entry level model will come with 16GB internal storage paired with 3GB RAM while the premium model will feature 64GB internal storage paired with 4GB RAM.
Both variants of the handset should come equipped with a non-removable 3280mAh battery, which should mean it won’t have the same reversible charging feature as the Honor 6 Plus. The array of connectivity options should also include Bluetooth v4.1, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi n/ac and possibly the dual antenna from the P8. On its flagship, Huawei’s dual antenna means the handset can use either antennae for coverage and in testing, the antennae proved best for LTE connectivity, speeds and reliability.

brightcove.createExperiences();
,
3000);
Pricing for the Honor 7 hasn’t been confirmed but given the pricing of past Honor devices, we’d expect it to be around the mid-range price, despite the premium specs list. As an example, the Honor 6 Plus offers similar specs to the flagship Ascend Mate 7 but costs a fraction of the price. A previous leak suggests the standard variant will cost 1999 Yuan ($322) and launhc at the end of June while the premium model will cost 2699 Yuan ($435) and will launch in July.
Either way, there won’t be long to wait until we find out as Huawei has today confirmed the Honor 7 will launch on June 24. The event is being held in China and the company could unveil one or both of the Honor 7 variants at the event. We should also hear more about global availability and we’ll of course let you know when Huawei reveals all at the end of the month.

Huawei’s all metal Honor 7 images leaked
Huawei has been all over the news this week. First, the company launched the Huawei P8 lite, and this time it’s the honor 7. There were rumors about the honor 7 in the tech industry for a while now. Recently the phone made its appearance at TENNA, ahead of its launch on June 8.
The images reveals a big fingerprint sensor just below the camera module.While the leaks do not confirm any specifications, they only confirm the fingerprint sensor and 4G LTE network connectivity. The network bands supported by the phone are TD-LTE, FDD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, CDMA2000, CDMA 1X and GSM.
According to previous rumors, the phone is said to come in two variants. The phone is supposed support a 5-inch full hd(1920*1080) screen resulting in screen density of 440ppi and is housed in a full metal-body. Similar to other variants from Huawei, this phone also supposed to be run on the company’s own Kirin 935 processor. The lower-spec’d variant will feature 16GB of internal storage paired with 3GB of RAM. The higher-spec’d variant will feature 64GB of internal storage paired with 4GB of RAM. Both of the variants of the Huawei honor 7 will support a non-removable 3280mAh battery which should be sufficient to provide a full day’s use.
As for now the pricing has not been confirmed by Huawei, but hopefully they stick to lower pricing to compete outside of China. Are you considering buying a Huawei device? Let us know in the comment section down below.

Hands on with the Huawei P8 Lite
Earlier this week, the Huawei P8 Lite made its debut. The company announced the handset as a less powerful version of the P8. The specifications of the P8 Lite, though, are still of decent quality and it remains a solid phone. It features a 5-inch display, octa-core processor, and 13MP camera. Huawei also made the P8 Lite feel premium while using plastic all around to keep the price down. The P8 Lite costs $249 and is available from multiple retailers such as Amazon, Fry’s Electronics, and Huawei itself.

Hands on with the Huawei TalkBand B2
Alongside the P8 Lite, Huawei released its TalkBand B2 this week. The wearable does everything that you would expect from an activity tracker. It even doubles as a Bluetooth headset because the main device detaches from the band. Huawei also partnered with Jawbone for integration with the UP platform through its Smart Coach app.
The TalkBand B2 is available from select retailers for $179 when taking a look at the black and white color options. The gold color option, which includes a brown leather band, is slightly more expensive at $199.
