[LEAK] ‘HTC Duo Camera’ may be the official name of the All New HTC One’s dual-sensor Camera

HTC Duo CameraAustralia is known for many things: kangaroos, koalas, being amazing at cricket and being home to Crocodile Dundee. On this particular occasion though, we might have done the Android community a favour by leaking the official name of the All New HTC One‘s dual-sensor camera in a magazine ad. In the ad, Telstra refers to the camera as the ‘HTC Duo Camera‘, which isn’t quite on the same level as ‘BoomSound’ or ‘UltraPixel’, but it’ll do. As we’ve suspected all along, the Duo Camera will have Lytro Camera-like abilities (read more about the tech behind it here) and will be able to:

“Create vivid images even in low light and professionally edit memories after you’ve taken the shot. Choose where to focus, highlight what you love, soften backgrounds and add 3D effects.”

As well as possibly leaking the camera’s name, rough pricing for the device was also provided. Off-contract from Telstra, the All New HTC One is going to run you $840 AUD, which equates to about $760 USD; it must be noted that Australian prices tend to be a bit higher than the norm, but expect the phone to still be in that ballpark. The ad also makes reference to Sense 6.0 and introduces some of the abilities it has, like double tapping the screen to rotate the orientation of the screen.

What do you think about the naming of the camera as the HTC Duo Camera? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

[LEAK] Flip cover case for the All New HTC One leaks out, as well as suggestion of a Google Play Edition

Flip cover case for the All New HTC OneWe’ve all seen the Samsung S-View cover and everybody’s attempts to recreate this flip cover case in one way or another. While this kind of case is tried and true, we’ve been waiting to see if someone can do something original and thankfully, it looks like HTC has. Evleaks leaked earlier today the above image which appears to show a flip cover case for the All New HTC One, but instead of having a window to show notifications, this particular flip cover case looks like it uses holes in the cover to give a dot matrix-like read out. It’s a very intriguing idea and there’s a lot that can be shown on such a read out; it’s obviously not as precise as having a window to your screen, but it can be very useful for just getting general notifications or the time.

Flip cover case for the All New HTC OneA few hours later, evleaks also posted this picture, which appears to show the previously mentioned flip cover case but in different colours. The original tweet that these cases were leaked in also had the following comments: “look for M8 to arrive as a Google Play Edition“. That’s not so much a surprise as the HTC One was also made into a Google Play Edition, but for those of you who like your devices with stock Android, you’ll be happy to know you can go that route with the All New HTC One.

What are your thoughts on this type of flip cover case? And would you get the All New HTC One Google Play Edition? (that’s quite a mouthful) Let us know what you think in the comments below.

[LEAK] More photos of the All New HTC One leak out as well as a Benchmark

photos of the All New HTC OneJust in case you hadn’t already had your fill of photos of the All New HTC One, here are another set of leaked photos for you to enjoy. By now, there’s very little that we haven’t already seen of the device after quite a lot of it was covered in a 12-minute walkthrough video leaked earlier this week, but apparently that’s not going to stop anyone breaching HTC‘s non-disclosure agreement.

photos of the All New HTC OneWhile the photos might not generally be of particular interest, there is one photo which shows the All New HTC One‘s performance on the Quadrant benchmarking software. Seeing as the All New One outperforms the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Xperia Z Ultra, both which possess the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, it’s pretty fair to conclude that the All New One is probably making use of Qualcomm’s newest chipset, the Snapdragon 801. While that’s just speculation, with 3 weeks still to go till the big day on March 25th and the rate at which these leaks are coming, we wouldn’t be surprised if we had a specifications leak in the very near future.

Leaked HTC One M8 video draws HTC attention

Almost every HTC fan is looking forward to March 25th, when the company will officially unleash the successor to their famous HTC One. Known, for now, as the HTC One M8 we’ve learned much about the device over the last few months.

Plenty of people are excited, some a little more than others. Take for instance this guy Roshan Jamkatal whose parents apparently work at HTC. This weekend he uploaded a 12-minute video of an early release M8 in action. We’d be lying if we said people didn’t notice. In fact, HTC, quickly caught wind of the video swept into action.

A few since-deleted tweets from HTC’s Global Online Communications Manager tell us that the kid could be in hot water. Perhaps, even, to the tune of his parents being fired. Reading through his tweets we find that this could very well have been the case; it’s suggested they both work at HTC.

[VIDEO] HTC Technical Translations Round 2 teases the aluminium unibody of the HTC One

HTC Technical TranslationsHTC is starting to ramp up their own advertising prior to the March 25th event which is expected to announce the All New HTC One, despite some minor distractions, and it appears to have struck a chord with their new HTC Technical Translations teasers. The first ad saw a HTC engineer give a very technical description of BoomSound, followed by the “average guy” giving us a watered down (read: hilarious) version of that explanation. HTC has followed this up with a second Technical Translations teaser in which the engineer and “average guy” discuss the metal unibody of the HTC One; check it out:

Now that they’ve covered BoomSound and the metal unibody, I can only assume explaining UltraPixel is next. It’s nice to see HTC adopting a more light-hearted approach to advertising after the slightly confusing campaign that was “Here’s To Change”, and hopefully as March 25th approaches, more of these teasers will continue to amuse us while we wait for the All New HTC One to arrive.

What do you think about these HTC Technical Translation videos? Are you liking them more than the “Here’s To Change” ads? Let us know what you think in the comments.

The All New HTC One leak was real, HTC’s Jeff Gordon ominously warns Leaker

The All New HTC One leakEarlier today, we reported that a 12-minute walkthrough video of the All New HTC One had been leaked out, the source of which was apparently a young man named Roshan Jamkatel. Well, Jamkatel’s life may be about to get a bit more complicated as HTC‘s Senior Global Online Communications Manager, Jeff Gordon, has clearly gotten wind of the video and issued an ominous warning over Twitter, all but confirming the validity of the All New HTC One leak.

After a tweet that could suggest legal action by HTC (“It’s not going to be a good week for you, my friend”), Jamkatel attempted to play his video off as a fake, however to no avail; Gordon told the young man that they would “be in touch”, citing that they had the IMEI number of the device in question, despite Jamkatel’s best efforts to hide it during the video. The Twitter conversation has since been deleted from Jamkatel’s account, as has the original video on YouTube.

The All New HTC One leakThis probably won’t be the last leak of the All New HTC One we see before it is announced on March 25th, but it goes to show that corporations will flex their muscle when a leak goes too far; maybe Sony can take a leaf out of HTC’s book.

What do you think about Jeff Gordon’s reaction to the leaked video? Do you think he/HTC is being too heavy handed? Let us know your opinion in the comments.
