A challenger appears: HTC unveils the HTC One M8s, a new take on the 2014 flagship
It’s not quite the HTC One M9 Plus, but it is a familiar face. HTC has just announced a new device called the HTC One M8s and as you might expect from the name, is actually just last year’s HTC One M8 with a few changes. At first glance, it will look like the phone has […]

Antutu: Top performing smartphones for Q1 2015
With Quarter 1 of 2015 already behind us, we can look back at the top performing phones of the year so far.
Popular benchmarking app Antutu have released their scores for Q1 of 2015 and perhaps of no surprise the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge tops the charts with over 10000 points higher than the closest competitor – the HTC One M9.
Following on from the latest flagship devices are the Galaxy S5, Meizu MX4, Google Nexus 6, and the Note 4.
Antutu also broke out the GPU performance for the different processors found in the most common devices in Q1 of 2015.
It seems Samsung has pipped the top of the charts with their own in-house Exynos 7420 processor, which perhaps is of no surprise given the how far ahead of the bunch the Galaxy S6 is in the charts.
Let us know if the results surprise you in the comments below.

HTC One M9 shipping times delayed for some, HTC apologies with 25% off accessories

Last week the HTC One M9 became available for pre-order through a number of carriers, as well as unlocked directly from HTC. For those ordering from HTC, shipping dates were supposed to start this Monday, March 30th, but it seems that HTC has run into some shipping issues. For those that were affected by the shipping delays, HTC is now sending out apology emails, giving these folks 25 percent off a variety of official HTC One M9 accessories. Keep in mind that these shipping delays won’t necessarily apply to all who
Keep in mind that these shipping delays won’t necessarily apply to all who pre-ordered, though it’s unclear exactly how many buyers were affected. Still, giving a discount on accessories is a nice gesture for those that were hoping to get their phones this week. As for when your delayed order might arrive? We are hearing that the phones should still be arriving sometime between April 4th and 7th.
The HTC One M9 is now available for £579 in the UK direct from the HTC website
The HTC One M9 was announced a few weeks ago on March the 1st, and since then it’s been polarizing opinions. If you are in the UK, you can now order the HTC One M9 directly from the HTC website.
The HTC One M9 (unlocked) can be ordered in GunMetal Grey or Gold-on-Silver colours direct from the manufacturer’s website for £579 ($855) with a choice of shipping options. HTC One M9 pre-orders begin shipping today

US pre-orders for the HTC One M9 will begin shipping out today, March 30th, and should be completed by April 3rd, according to an email circulating by HTC. It looks like those who pre-ordered will receive their new One M9 ahead of the general in-store launch date, which is set for April 10th.
Orders for the HTC One M9 will begin shipping on Monday 3/30, and should ship by Friday 4/3 at the latest. Any changes to this will be communicated directly to you from HTC.
The One M9 has been made available to pre-purchase from almost all major US carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint, and Verizon’s pre-orders are scheduled to begin tomorrow. HTC is also allowing you to compare all deals and buy the handset directly through its own online store.
Despite a delay to its home launch in Taiwan last month for software fixes, the company appears to be on schedule for the broader rollout of its M9. If you’re still undecided about whether the M9 is right for you, be sure to check out our in-depth review.

The newest HTC One M9 commercial still doesn’t show what makes the device stand out

HTC has just released its newest advertisement for the One M9, showing off the device in some mildly active scenarios. While the new ad isn’t nearly as interesting as the Robert Downey Jr. clips we saw a few days ago, it does show off some of the M9’s features.
In the commercial, the device is used by some students running through a museum, snapping pictures along the way. The ad then cuts to a clip of a stylish man rollerskating through a crowd of people complete with the tagline “let them stare”. The clip ends with a girl saving the party she’s attending with her trusty One M9 when the power goes out.
HTC has never really been the type of company to focus it’s advertisements on why the M9 stands out from the crowd, though it does still make for some entertaining ads, to say the least. Do you think a focus on features and specifications in these advertisements would be better for the company? Or is showing off the device in real world situations a better route?
HTC One M9 and Galaxy S6 pre-orders kick off: which are you buying?

The time has come for many smartphone fans around the world to choose which device they’ll pick up next – the Samsung Galaxy S6 or the HTC One M9. Both devices are now up for pre-order on most U.S. carriers, so tell us, which one will you choose?
Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge
Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are arguably two of the most beautiful devices the company has ever produced. Both handsets feature a dual-sided glass build with metal trim and a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED Quad HD display. The S6 has a 2550mAh non-removable battery, while the S6 Edge will give you a little more juice with its 2600mAh cell. They’re both powered by a Samsung Exynos 7420 processor, 3GB of RAM, and either 32, 64 or 128GB of on-board storage. Although Samsung has opted to give us higher storage options this time around, the omission of a microSD card slot and removable batteries may stray Samsung fans away from the company’s newest devices. To learn more about the Galaxy S6, check out our full review.
Where to buy:
Since there are multiple different storage options available on each carrier, to save some room, we’ll give you availability info for the 32GB variant of each device.

HTC One M9
While Samsung changed just about everything with the S6 and S6 Edge, HTC went for a more iterative approach this time around. Even so, it’s hard denying that the HTC One M9 is one beautiful smartphone. The handset features HTC’s iconic aluminum unibody design language and a 5.0-inch LCD full HD display. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM and comes with 32GB of on-board storage with microSD expansion up to 128GB. It also has a non-removable 2840mAh battery. HTC decided to move the UltraPixel camera around to the front of the M9, but the device’s 20.7MP rear-facing shooter just doesn’t compare to the Galaxy S6’s 16MP camera. Many HTC fans have been concerned that the One M9 isn’t a worthy upgrade from the One M8, though many would argue the company didn’t need to make drastic changes this time around. Today’s social media world is all about sharing and telling a visual story with your phone, whether you’re focused on taking the best selfies to show your #OOTD (outfit of the day) or videos of your travel adventures. The HTC One M9 is built with that in mind, featuring a 20-megapixel rear camera and Ultrapixel front facing camera with built-in advanced editing tools for added photography fun. And with Verizon 4G LTE you just upload them to your social media apps without thinking. Without Verizon, you may find yourself searching for Wi-Fi.
Many of us have been in that situation where we’re showing a friend the latest viral video and they ask “can you make it louder?” only to sadly tell them that your phone is already on full volume. No more. The HTC One M9 features HTC BoomSound™ – front-facing dual speakers with Dolby Audio™ surround and built-in amplifier.
A reliable 4G LTE network can make that music experience better too. You’re hanging out with friends and you want to be the DJ with your smartphone. With Verizon you’ll be streaming music for everyone to enjoy. Without it, who knows how long or how many times you’ll be buffering.
The HTC One M9 will launch with Advanced Calling1.0 capabilities. You can enjoy HD Voice and Video Calling to other compatible Verizon smartphones. Activating this feature also enables simultaneous voice and data use, so customers can talk and surf the web at the same time.

Verizon’s HTC One M9 pre-orders begin April 1st, available in-store April 10th

Verizon has just announced that pre-orders for the HTC One M9 will begin Wednesday, April 1st, and the device will be available in-store on Friday, April 10th. If you’d like to pick one up on a two-year contract, the device will be available for $199.99 in both Gold on Silver and Metal Gray 32GB variants. For those who’d like to take advantage of Verizon’s Edge program, the device will cost you $24.99 per month for 24 months. The carrier has also revealed that the One M9 Dot View case would be available on April 1st for $49.99 in Onyx Black and Candy Floss color options.
While the HTC One M9 doesn’t differ from the M8 as much as some would have liked it to, it’s still one heck of a great smartphone. The One M9 sports a 5-inch full HD display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of on-board storage with microSD expansion up to 128GB. It has a non-removable 2840mAh battery, loud and clear front-facing BoomSound speakers and a beautiful all-metal construction. The 20MP rear-facing camera could definitely use some work, but if the camera quality on your smartphone isn’t important to you, we think you’ll like the M9 quite a bit.
