HTC One (M8) for T-Mobile to get Lollipop on February 10

t-mobile_htc_one_m8_update_021015_screengrab

The HTC One (M8) for T-Mobile was originally scheduled to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop in a software update sometime today. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be happening as there is an hour left in the day (on the east coast) and no such update has arrived. On T-Mobile’s support page for the HTC handset, February 10 is listed as the new date for Lollipop to start rolling out. The software update will be labeled as build 4.20.531.4 and the start of the roll out is tomorrow; therefore, it may take a few days for the update to reach all device owners.

Let us know in the comments when you receive the update.

T-Mobile Lollipop OTA for HTC One M8 landing on Feb. 9

one-m8-6

We are officially in full swing for OTA updates of Android 5.x Lollipop for a number of flagship devices. Last week was post after post of Samsung’s Galaxy S5 receiving the update, and now we get to inform you that the T-Mobile branded HTC One (M8) will start receiving the update this coming Monday, February 9th.

The news comes via a quick tweet from Mo, who says that T-Mobile has received the required Technical Approval for the update. While this does not offer a specific game plan or roll out schedule, the exact words “OTA to start on Monday” are still magic to the ears of those HTC One (M8) owners that have been holding their breath waiting for their shot at Lollipop.

Lollipop statue Android Google

As with the other carriers and unlocked editions, your HTC One (M8) will run Sense 6 along with the Material Design goodness of Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The update has taken a little longer than HTC’s promised 90 days from official Lollipop release to reach handsets. Now that it is arriving, you’ll at least have a few weeks to play with it before you get to decide if you’ll keep it, or upgrade hardware to the anticipated new HTC One (M9).

What aspect of Android Lollipop are you most looking forward to on your T-Mobile HTC One (M8)?

android_lollipop_tweet

Owners of the HTC One (M8) on T-Mobile have something to get excited about this weekend. Android 5.0 Lollipop will start pushing to the device starting this Monday, February 9th.

This news comes from Mo Versi who Tweeted that the update has received technical approval.

Sprint already started pushing the update to their branded One (M8) today, so we can only assume that AT&T and Verizon won’t be too far behind.

HTC One M8’s on Sprint getting Android 5.0 Lollipop updates

While HTC said they would miss the 90 day goal for their devices to be updated to Lollipop, they certainly came closer than some have in timely updates in the past. The US is a harder monster to wrangle than most locales since each carrier has to move the update through their own quality checks […]

Sprint updating the HTC One (M8) and LG G3 to Android 5.0 Lollipop next week

sprint_android_5.0_lollipop_leaked_update_schedule

Sprint is on fire when it comes to updating devices to Lollipop. If the HTC One (M7) and the Galaxy S 5 wasn’t enough, how about the HTC One (M8) and the LG G3? A leaked document shows that the HTC One (M8) will get Android 5.0 Lollipop on February 13 and the LG G3 will get the tasty treat on February 16. If you happen to own the Harman Kardon edition of the One (M8), don’t fret, because it’s included in the update as well.

Of course, it should be noted that “subject to change” is listed so if anything goes wrong with the final testing, Sprint will delay the launch. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Android 5.0 Lollipop soon expected for multiple Sprint devices

This is some great news for Sprint customers out there. A few of HTC, LG, and Samsung’s most popular devices are receiving updates for Android 5.0 Lollipop on the network.

The update for the HTC One M7 was confirmed via Twitter by Mo, the Vice President of Product Management at HTC. Its OTA update started today. He notes that Lollipop is coming to other devices as well.

Android Central said that Lollipop is also coming to the HTC One M8 and One M8 Harmon Kardon edition on February 13th and to the LG G3 on February 16th. Although, this could be subject to change.

You can also see in the image that the Galaxy S5 should have also started receiving the update earlier today. That appears to be true based on confirmation directly from Samsung.

Congrats to all the Sprint owners out there. Hopefully, the other characters will quickly follow with updates for these and other devices.

Leaked Sprint doc reveals One M8 and G3 Lollipop updates coming soon

LG G3 Vs HTC One M8-89

When it comes to market penetration, Lollipop still has a long ways to go before it reaches a meaningful number of Android users. After all, the update is currently sitting on just 1.6% of Android devices. Thankfully, OEMs seem to be much more aggressive with Lollipop than previous Android updates, and this week alone we’ve seen Lollipop rollout to the Verizon Galaxy S5, the Sprint HTC One M7 and the Sprint Galaxy S5. Now it seems that Sprint is rolling out at least two more Lollipop updates this month, at least if a leaked release schedule proves correct.

The leaked schedule comes from Android Central, and indicates that the One M8 and the M8 Harman Kardon Special Edition will see the update on February 13th, with the LG G3 following on the 16th. It goes without saying that the dates listed are tentative and could certainly be subject to change, but the bigger takeway is that most major OEMs are holding true to their promises to bring Android 5.0 Lollipop to their flagship devices in the earlier part of 2015.

What do you think of the way the Lollipop update has been handled by carriers? What do you think of Lollipop in general? Let us know in the comments.

HTC holds the crown with something completely different

htc_hold_the_crown_rap_video

HTC decided to do something a little different when it came to marketing their HTC One M8 and apparently not content to just test the waters, they decided to go all in with their latest effort. If you enjoy the surreal then you may like this as HTC has produced a rap video titled “Hold the Crown” featuring rapper Doc G. In the video Doc G is accompanied by a frenetically dancing HTC employee David Bruce and some dancing Samsung Galaxy S 5 and Apple iPhone 6  mascots. The dancing phone mascots are included as HTC takes some shots at Samsung and Apple in the video. HTC chairman Peter Chou even manages to make an appearance in the video.

Hit the break if you want to check out the video or if you just need a break from the normal world.

Android Lollipop rolling out to the HTC One M8 in Canada today

htc one m8 outdoors aa (2 of 14)

HTC may be a little behind with its 90 day Android Lollipop roll-out goal, but the company is still pushing out updates for its flagship smartphone. Android Lollipop will be heading out to Canadian HTC One M8 owners within the next 24 hours.

Answering questions via Twitter yesterday, HTC’s own Mo Versi confirmed that the company has received technical approval from Rogers and TELUS regarding updates for the M8 and that an over-the-air rollout would begin the following day (which is today).

Furthermore, HTC Canada’s Twitter account also confirmed that a similar update would be making its way to the HTC One M7 “soon”, although a more specific time frame wasn’t given. Hopefully, we should see news about the update appear in the near future.

Keep your eyes peeled for that OTA update notification later today.
