New leaked photo gives us a side view of the new LG Nexus 5
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
AndroidPit is back again, this time with a leaked photo that gives us a side view of the new LG Nexus 5 and clearly shows the two-toned white that’s become a staple in the Nexus world of smartphones. As per the previous photo which gave us a great look at the device’s back, the background of the image has been removed to show only what we need to see. From the side, the slightly raised camera is clearly outlined – when compared side to side with the old Nexus 5, the two don’t look all that different.
AndroidPit’s source also divulged that the blue that the Nexus 5 is going to be offered in is going to be more of a bright blue – think iPhone 5C rather than Nexus 6 blue. We don’t know if we’d be a fan of it, but if you don’t like that, there’s always the usual black and white versions to choose from. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing all three coloured variants at a press conference on September 29th, and it was revealed earlier today that we should be able to start throwing our money at Google on October 13th.

Nest outage cuts remote users off from Dropcams, thermostats
If you’re trying to login to a Nest (or Dropcam) account at the moment, you probably can’t. The company acknowledged a service problem with the mobile and web app on its Twitter account, but so far there are no details about what’s behind the problem. Thermostat owners can still change their temperature the old-fashioned way, by walking up to it and fiddling with the device, but that’s probably the kind of experience they were trying to get away from. Dropcam users don’t seem to have any kind of direct interface workaround for the time being, so they’ll just have to wait until access via the cloud is restored.
[Thanks, Michael]
We’re investigating a service outage with the Nest mobile and web app, and the team is working on a fix. Details to come.
— Nest Support (@nestsupport) September 8, 2015
We couldn’t login to our devices via the web or mobile apps as it said the password was invalid, and home.nest.com is tossing a server error message at the moment. Some users on Twitter are saying that outages seem to have become more common lately, and are pointing the finger at Google. Of course, as with other outages of cloud-based home device setups, the question of how much control and access users have if/when outages occur leads some to prefer devices they can connect to locally. We’ve contacted Nest about the issue, and will update this post when there’s more information.

Get your wallets ready: October 13th inked as date when LG Nexus and Huawei Nexus pre-orders go live
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
The stars are aligning and it appears quite likely that Google will be announcing its new Nexus smartphones, one from LG and one from Huawei, at an event in San Francisco on September 29th. As has been the case before, the announcement of the device doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll be able to put your money where your mouth is immediately after, so the question remains: when will LG Nexus and Huawei Nexus pre-orders go live? According to TalkAndroid’s sources, that day is October 13th, or about two weeks after the rumoured announcement event. For reference, TalkAndroid has also provided some examples from previous Nexus releases to demonstrate why this is quite normal:
- Nexus One: December 12, 2009 (confirmed); January 5, 2010 (released)
- Nexus S: December 6, 2010 (announced); December 16, 2010 (released)
- Galaxy Nexus: October 19, 2011 (announced); November 17, 2011 (released)
- Nexus 4: October 29, 2012 (announced); November 13, 2012 (released)
- Nexus 5: October 31, 2013 (announced, pre-ordering started)
- Nexus 6: October 15, 2014 (announced); October 29, 2014 (pre-ordering started)
If nothing else, that seems to make a lot of sense, though we’ll always take rumours surrounding Nexus devices with a grain of salt. Even so, be sure to mark September 29th and October 13th on your calendars, just in case.

Google found a way to bypass Adblock in YouTube

Adblock has been a life-saver to many web advertising critics out there. This software makes publicity disappear in most websites, but the problem with a cleaner internet is that those running these pages have found themselves affected by lower revenues. Pagefair’s studies corroborate that about 144 million users take advantage of Adblock as of the end of 2014, which accounts for about 5% of the whole internet community. This would seem like a small number, but since these numbers are mostly concentrated in western markets, profits have seen a significant impact.
To put it into perspective, about 27.6 of the surveyed USA-based participants claimed to use the ad-blocking services. This likely also means that over a fourth of the possible earnings are being stripped away from online businesses, which often depend on advertising. Of course, Google and some of its services is also going to see a negative effect from such services, so they have decided to take action. A bevy of online reports tell us the Search Giant has found a way to bypass Adblock’s effects in YouTube.

According to these reports, YouTube is now treating video ads as pre-clips, making it impossible to avoid them. The most interesting part is that it seems those with Adblock services activated will be worse off, as the option to skip the video will not be present for them. This can be a huge disadvantage considering some ads can run for multiple minutes. Those who want to skip videos will have to either white-list YouTube or disable Adblock services. And yes, it seems like these changes don’t only affect Adblock users, but also those who utilize similar software.
Obviously, there will be some workarounds the internet will find, but this is a clear move against ad-blockers from Google. What do you guys think about this whole situation? Are you an Adblock supporter? If so, what is your reasoning. Hit the comments and let us know where you stand on this. Will you be affected by these changes?

LG, Huawei’s Nexus phones to be up for pre-order on October 13
Two Nexus phones are coming this year. Both LG, a company familiar with the Nexus line, and Huawei will be producing the phones for Google’s signature hardware brand. The Huawei-made Nexus phone will be larger and have ‘better’ specifications than LG’s offering, but the latter will bring Nexus phones back to a more affordable price. Google is expected to announce the new devices at an event held in San Francisco on September 29. The pre-order date, though, is not set for that same day. You’ll have to wait a few weeks to secure your new Nexus phone.
A source tells Talk Android that both LG and Huawei’s Nexus phones will be made available for pre-order on October 13. This date is exactly two weeks after the aforementioned event. What the source did not provide us with is a shipping date; however, Nexus devices have a history in shipping 1-3 weeks after an announcement or when pre-orders are first taken.
Being that Google has still not confirmed an event for September 29, the October 13 pre-order date could change in the coming weeks.
Here is a recap of Nexus phone timelines:
- Nexus One: December 12, 2009 (confirmed); January 5, 2010 (released)
- Nexus S: December 6, 2010 (announced); December 16, 2010 (released)
- Galaxy Nexus: October 19, 2011 (announced); November 17, 2011 (released)
- Nexus 4: October 29, 2012 (announced); November 13, 2012 (released)
- Nexus 5: October 31, 2013 (announced, pre-ordering started)
- Nexus 6: October 15, 2014 (announced); October 29, 2014 (pre-ordering started)

New leaked photos of Huawei Nexus cases shows that camera bump again
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
We’ve already had a good look at what the Huawei Nexus smartphone is likely going to look like, however, in case you aren’t convinced yet, here are some photos of some Huawei Nexus cases for you to look at. As we’ve already seen in the photos of the actual device, the Huawei Nexus is adorned with a circular fingerprint scanner in the middle of its back and its camera module is featured in somewhat of a bump at the top of the device. It doesn’t look quite like something Huawei would do, which suggests Google had something to do with it – either way, we’re curious to know what it can do.
These leaked photos are courtesy of leaker @onleaks, who also confirmed when answering questions after this tweet that the Huawei Nexus is likely going to have a 5.5-inch display. This was suggested earlier today after a Zauba listing was found describing the Huawei Nexus with a 5.5-inch display – we’re not entirely sure what we’re supposed to think about this just yet, but we’re sure all will be clear in due time.
What do you think about these Huawei Nexus cases? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Leaked Huawei Nexus case lends further weight to presence of circular fingerprint scanner
Google is announcing its new Nexus smartphones on September 29th, and that means that the leaks are going to keep coming, with increasing frequency and accuracy. Today, we have images of a case for Huawei’s Nexus device, lending even more weight to the likelihood of it sporting a circular fingerprint scanner on the rear of the device.
The images were posted on Twitter by serial leaker, @OnLeaks. In the main image above you can see the cutouts for the 3.5mm audio jack on the top of the case while on the rear there are cutouts for the camera/flash and circular fingerprint scanner. You can also see how the case makes provision for the handset’s protruding bump that runs across the top of the device housing the camera sensor.
As for the case itself, well, it seems to be of the generic type made of plastic and often referred to an ‘S-Type’ case. It’s usually quite affordable and quite often, long-lasting as well. We don’t have too much longer to wait until Google reveals all, both about the Huawei Nexus device and LG’s alleged Nexus 5X device. If you’re a Nexus fan, which new Nexus device are you most looking forward to getting your hands on? Let us know in the comments.

Huawei Nexus 6 shown to have 5.5-inch display in Zauba listing
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
We’ve had rare glimpses of what is supposed to be the Huawei Nexus 6, however we’ve always assumed that it would be close to a 6-inch display, hence the Nexus “6” – rumours have always suggested it would be 5.7-inches. However, the latest report which details a Zauba shipping listing which shows a “Huawei Angler” entering India with a 5.5-inch display – for those who don’t remember, “Angler” is the internal codename for the Huawei Nexus device at Google.
This is a very unusual revelation, not that a Nexus 6 can’t be 5.5-inches, but because that makes the LG Nexus 5 and Huawei Nexus 6 quite similar in size – the LG Nexus 5 is expected to be 5.2-inches and quite large at that screen size. The other explanation for this could be that the Huawei Nexus 6 is supposed to be marketed as a premium device, whereas the LG Nexus 5 is supposed to be a lower-cost device with respectable hardware. That seems unlikely, but we’re just trying to understand what’s going on.
The Zauba listing also mentions that the device will have 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and has an indicative cost of $645 USD. It’s all very curious, but hopefully we’ll know more on September 29th when Google is expected to have a press conference in San Francisco.

This is the back of the Nexus 5 (2015)
Another Nexus device will be produced by LG, the company’s third to be exact, and the handset could be coming as soon as September 29 with its price set at $400. Being that the aforementioned date is only a few weeks away, leaks are bound to happen more frequently. Specifications for the upcoming Nexus 5 (2015) have already been shared, showing that Google will start this round of Nexus devices with a phone that is not exactly a flagship but still has pretty good components. Consumers looking for that high-end Nexus phone will have to wait for a possible beast from Huawei.
Hit the break to see the image.
The image above, obtained by AndroidPIT and verified by Android Police, shows the rear of the new Nexus 5. So what can we take away from it? The camera, which is said to be 12.3MP, protrudes from the back and is paired with dual-LED and laser auto-focus. Directly below the camera is a fingerprint scanner. Being that Android Pay is coming and Android 6.0 Marshmallow introduces fingerprint authentication, Google was bound to include the technology with its Nexus hardware.
And the final thing to note about the image is that Google is sticking with vertical Nexus logos.
Overall, the Nexus 5 (2015) looks like a compact device. This new Nexus phone is said to have a 5.2-inch Full HD (1920×1080) display. It’s nice to see Google paying attention to those that want a device with a smaller screen.

Android Pay is listed as ‘Coming Soon’ in Google Wallet application
The debut of Android Pay is just off the horizon. With Google all set to unveil its new Nexus devices on September 29, Android Pay should be just around the corner.
A new leak comes from the Google Wallet application. If you have registered with Google Wallet, you will notice a card has appeared when first opening the application. The card states, “Android Pay and a new Google Wallet, coming soon!” Google will apparently be splitting the two contact-less payment methods into two separate apps. Those using Google Wallet can continue using the service following the launch of Google’s Android Pay.
With Android Pay, users will be able to use their Android enabled device for contact-less payments online and in stores. Google plans to roll out the service in some countries before others, so not everyone will be able to use it right away. The payment service will use NFC technology to make transactions. In other words, it won’t work at any location like Samsung’s newly released Samsung Pay. Users must rely on merchants to have an NFC enabled terminal to make transactions, which could be a bit of a hassle. Google says it’s working with lots of partners around the world in order to make the service compatible with as many brands as possible time come launch day. We should find out more at Google’s event taking place in San Fran on September 29.
The new payment service will work with a majority of Android devices across all different manufactures. Google promises to make the service secure and is going about this by not letting cashiers see your card number(s). In addition users can always enable the Android Device Manager, which will allow people to find their device if it goes missing. The Android Device Manager will also allow users to lock or even wipe their device remotely to ensure nobody gets in. The technology will use Google’s new and secure universal fingerprint API for easy transactions. Below you’ll find a list of some of the major brands that will be accepting Android Pay.
