Nexus 6 won’t be made by LG, according to a company executive

The Nexus 6 is a device of much rumor at the moment. While the last two Nexus smartphones were made by LG, as well as the only Nexus tablets, company communications director Ken Hong recently said he didn’t know anything about the it, when they were usually informed.
“That can mean two things,” Hong said. “Either I got ignored, or we simply won’t be making [the Nexus 6].”
Hong also said that Google determines how many are to be made, so usually when they are asked, they then deliver that many devices.
Recent rumors have suggested that the new Nexus device would be based on the LG G3, but at this point, who knows if one is even coming at all.
The device is rumored to make an appearance at Google I/O next week.

Google Play Fitness is going to be announced at Google I/O, Android’s answer to HealthKit
Every year, every Android enthusiast waits with bated breath for Google I/O to arrive and wow us with what to look forward to in the immediate future of the operating system. Google I/O 2014 is shaping up to be a particularly exciting one with new Android hardware and software a possibility as well as the addition of Android Wear related technology which is expected to also make an appearance. One other frontrunner to headline the event has been uncovered recently, as Google is rumoured to be launching a new fitness tracking service called Google Play Fitness, or Google Fit.
As Android Police explains in its exclusive report, Google Play Fitness is expected to be similar in theoretical functionality to Google Play Games, wherein it would collect, organize and spit out fitness information for users to peruse. It’s expected to be a separate entity within Android, much like Play Games, Play Fitness is expected to also use Google Play Services as its conduit to providing its services. This would inevitably mean Play Services will be seeing some kind of an update come Google I/O time. It’s also alleged that with the launch of Play Fitness, Google may be announcing partnerships with fitness manufacturers who will have wearable devices to show off at the event.
Fitness is clearly increasingly important to the mobile community and Google introducing Google Play Fitness and its associated API would be huge for making it far more mainstream in the Android ecosystem. What do you think about Google Play Fitness? Are you looking forward to what the new services will provide? Let us know your opinion in the comments.

Google tweet has Android fanboys thinking 5.0 for Google I/O

Get out your tinfoil hat, kids. The latest round of chatter says that Google will debut Android 5.0 at Google I/O this month. Why, you ask? Because a tweet from Google’s official account yesterday says so.
If you happened to catch the tweet on June 11 about getting ready for The World Cup then you might have overlooked the clue that allegedly smacks us in the face. See the time on the clock up there in the top right? It’s 5:00… 5.0…Android 5.0 confirmed. Well, not really.
Would we like to see Android 5.0 announced? Sure… maybe? It depends on what’s in it, really. We’re totally content with the KitKat stuff we’ve been using the last few months and don’t feel like there’s anything missing from the experience.
It is worth pointing out, however, that there is actual consideration that goes into these press render images. After all, the clock does have to have some time on it, right? Check out some of the previously released images from Google that show times that kinda sorta do match up with a version of Android.

If interested, you can get in on the conspiracy theory over at Reddit.
