Vodafone UK now rolling out Wi-Fi calling update for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

Samsung_Galaxy_S6_Back_Lower_S6_Logo_02_TA

Vodafone UK has started pushing out a rather unexpected update to all its carrier-branded models of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge located in the United Kingdom. This upgrade carries support for the operator’s fairly new Wi-Fi calling service, which authorizes users to place calls via the Internet when they have no cellular signal without incurring any extra charges.

Unfortunately, you will need to be a subscriber of either a Pay Monthly Red, Red Value, Red+ or Business Premier plan to use the Wi-Fi calling platform. You’ll also need to ensure that your device was bought directly from Vodafone because if you purchased it from a third-party company, it won’t bundle the correct drivers for the feature to work. Other than these two provisos, using the service couldn’t be easier. Simply install the upgrade, then text the word “CALLING” to 97888 to enable it.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge used to make a professional quality short film

samsung_unpacked_2015_galaxy_s6_edge_plus_rear_gold_TA

I have seen tons of comparisons between modern smartphone cameras and professional cameras over the years. Each year they get closer and closer, but not quite there yet. However, that doesn’t mean an excellent smartphone camera can’t be used to film a professional quality short film and look great.

Part 1 of the film has been released by Jens Rijsdijk, Sjoerd de Bont and Kuba Szutkowski, three up-and-coming directors who used an S6 Edge as their only camera. The short film also has an interesting idea behind it as this first part was shot by Sjoerd de Bont, and the next two parts will be shot by the other two directors. However, each director must continue off from where the last one started. As you’ll see by the part 1, it could go anywhere.

Samsung is using the film as a promotion for the Galaxy S6 Edge. Either way, it still shows just how great their smartphone camera is, and how it can be used to create professional quality films in the right hands.

T-Mobile slashes $100 off top Samsung phones along with free Netflix subscription

This holiday season, T-Mobile is playing Santa of sorts. As part the Un-carrier Unwrapped promotion, T-Mobile offering a $100 discount off Samsung’s premium Galaxy devices, including the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, Edge+ and Note 5. If that was not good enough for you, the wireless carrier is also throwing in a full year’s Netflix subscription for free.

“Today we’re putting the final bow on a fantastic month of gifts to all wireless customers. Starting this weekend, we’re giving you $100 off the top on Samsung’s hottest phones, plus a year of Netflix. Period. Happy Holidays Everyone!”

– John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile

There is just one catch – the deal is only valid for T-Mobile’s equipment installment plan, which means you can’t avail the offer on the purchase of unlocked Galaxy devices. But if you don’t mind staying bound to one service provider, it is indeed a sweet deal.

To make the most of this offer, you must make a purchase between December 18th and December 23rd. While the $100 discount may not be available after December 23rd, customers still get up to a free year of Netflix though December 31st.

$100 off Samsung smartphones, year of Netflix offered by T-Mobile in final Unwrapped deal

t-mobile_unwrapped_samsung_phone_netflix_offer

T-Mobile announced today their final special offer as part of their holiday shopping Un-carrier Unwrapped promotions. The offer encourages consumers to pick up a Samsung smartphone thanks to a $100 discount and suggests consumers avail themselves of T-Mobile’s new Binge On feature by throwing in a year of Netflix.

John Legere, in announcing this final offer for the season, says other carriers are engaging in trickery with their specials, but T-Mobile’s Unwrapped is different in being simple, “we’re giving you $100 off the top on Samsung’s hottest phones, plus a year of Netflix. Period.”

The devices eligible for the special pricing include the Samsung Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Edge, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5. The offer will launch this Friday, December 18th, and will be accessible via retail locations, by phone or through online orders. The special pricing on Samsung devices will be good through December 23rd, but the Netflix offer can be had until December 31st. If you are already a Netflix customer, you can get a 12-month credit through this deal.

Check out the full press release below.

T-Mobile Gives Customers $100 Off Samsung’s Best Smartphones, Plus a Year of Netflix

Un-carrier Unwrapped ends with gifts for all!
Get $100 off a Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge, edge+ or Note5 AND one full year of Netflix on us!

Bellevue, Washington — December 16, 2015 — T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) today revealed its final gift of the Un-carrier Unwrapped holiday season and it’s for absolutely everyone.  Starting this Friday, the Un-carrier is knocking $100 off Samsung’s latest superphones – the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge, edge+ or Note5.  To sweeten the deal, the Un-carrier is throwing in up to a full year of Netflix – more than $100 value – when you pick up any of these Samsung smartphones! With Binge On you can watch all the Netflix you want without eating up your high-speed data. It’s the gift that keeps on giving year round!

“Today we’re putting the final bow on a fantastic month of gifts to all wireless customers,” said John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile. “The carriers’ holiday ‘deals’ are full of trickery and promises in exchange for a set of handcuffs and higher costs down the road. That’s not a gift, and it’s not how the Un-carrier does it. Starting this weekend, we’re giving you $100 off the top on Samsung’s hottest phones, plus a year of Netflix. Period. Happy Holidays Everyone!”

Thanks to the carriers’ inflated data charges and overages, if you don’t have T-Mobile, you’re paying a lot more for your binge watching than just the normal subscription fee. Binge watching a full season of House of Cards can eat up about 9.59 GB of high-speed data. An AT&T customer with a 5GB data bucket would use up their entire bucket and tip into overage penalties to the tune of $15 per gigabyte before the season is even done – an extra $75 on top of their monthly bill! At T-Mobile with Binge On, that same season of House of Cards would eat up exactly ZERO of your high-speed data bucket on most plans.

The Un-carrier has been in the holiday spirit this month, unwrapping holiday gifts every week as part of Un-carrier Unwrapped.  First, T-Mobile gave its Simple Choice customers three months of Unlimited LTE. Then,Sprint customers got $200 per line when they switched. And AT&T customers got a phone memory upgrade and half-off accessories. Finally, Verizon customers got up to a full year mobile viewing joy with Hulu and half-off accessories.

This latest Un-carrier Unwrapped gift is available to everyone starting Friday, December 18th in T-Mobile stores, by phone and online. Customers can get $100 off Samsung phones through December 23rd, and customers can get up to a free year of Netflix though December 31st. For more information, visithttps://explore.t-mobile.com/samsung-phone-offer.

Offer subject to change. At participating locations; while supplies last. Qualifying service required. Netflix offer sponsored by Samsung. Follow instructions at http://www.SamsungPromotions.com to redeem. Netflix codes must be used by 3/31/16 or they will expire. Subject to Netflix Terms & Conditions.

AT&T is offering a free Galaxy S6 with the purchase of another Galaxy

If you’re looking to switch over to AT&T this month, you’re in for an awesome promotion. Until the new year starts, when you buy one of the current Galaxy devices, you’ll be able to pick up a free Galaxy S6 on a second line. That’s right, if you buy a Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus or Galaxy S6 Active (which you can only get at AT&T), AT&T will credit your account for your AT&T Next payments on a 32GB Galaxy S6.

The small print here is that the free Galaxy S6 must be on a new line and if you cancel either line, the balance of that phone is due immediately (up to $950). You’ll be required to choose a qualifying plan, which AT&T says is $70/mo or more, and the bill payments will be split up over 30 months. Your credits will start after three months of service if you keep your account in good standing. This promotion ends on December 31 and is only for “well-qualified” customers.

samsung_galaxy_s6_active_10

If you’re looking to switch over to AT&T want to be tied to a Galaxy S6 for the next 30 months, this is a pretty good deal. I think this will be especially popular with those getting their first or second smartphone who aren’t jumping around to a new device a lot and just want something nice that will work and not break immediately. The Galaxy S6 is still one of the best phones out there and will be one of the best sellers this holiday season due to the Galaxy branding and build quality.

Is this a promotion you’re going to jump on? Let us know down in the comments what you think of this move from AT&T.

[Deal] AT&T goes BOGO-ish with Samsung Galaxy S6

Samsung_Galaxy_S6_Front_Top_Samsung_Logo_TA

If you are looking for a pair of smartphones as gifts this holiday season, AT&T is offering up the Samsung Galaxy S6 in a kind of buy one get one free deal. Since the deal only works by signing up for the AT&T Next program, you end up having to setup service and make payments on both phones. However, as long as you comply with the program’s requirements, AT&T will start granting credits that effectively make the second smartphone free.

For the first device, users can choose from the Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 Active or the Galaxy Note 5. Once you add one of those devices to your cart, you can add the Galaxy S6 as the second device. In addition to signing up for AT&T Next and staying with the program, consumers also have to use a service plan of at least $70 per month.

With so many people putting multiple lines on their plans, this could be a good way to control the cost a bit. Hit the source link below for more information and to start your order.
