Samsung’s dual-edge displays are flowing in new Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+ ad
Tonight during the 67th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, Samsung ran an advertisement to prove that “beauty has no bounds.”
Samsung’s latest ad for the Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge+ starts with a caterpillar crawling between the two devices’ displays. Then the two come together and a butterfly appears and ascends through a stack of Samsung devices.

Samsung expands its presence to Leh, India with an all-new Experience store
Samsung has opened an Experience store in Leh, India, making itself to be the world’s first exclusive brand retail store at the highest altitude: 3600 meters high. This expansion makes Samsung the first brand to offer a direct distribution and service outlet in the Leh-Ladakh region.
This new Experience store will offer demonstrations, consultation, and support to customers in the area, Samsung India says. This will help the company give consumers direct access to its premium products, furthering its presence in India.
“Samsung will be wherever our consumers are. Our brand and service store in Leh, the highest altitude exclusive brand store over 3,600 meters high, will provide a unique and differentiated retail experience to our consumers. This store will not only display our new innovative products, it will also be a one stop shop for consumers to experience advanced features and solutions offered in these Samsung Smart devices,” says Mohandeep Singh, Vice President of Samsung’s Mobile Division Sales.
The Samsung Experience Store and Service center will allow customers in the region to see devices like the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and no doubt the rumored Galaxy S7 when it launches in a few months time.
“Samsung is the first brand to set foot in the region with an exclusive showroom and we are committed to strengthening our reach further,” Singh said. Samsung’s commitment to have a presence wherever consumers are rings true in how hard the company tries to have a device in every corner of the world.

Samsung sends more jabs Apple’s way in new Galaxy ad
Samsung has released a new 30-second Galaxy ad, making fun of the iPhone in that it doesn’t have Samsung’s fast wireless charging capabilities or any wireless charging at all.
It’s a joint commercial, featuring both the new Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+. The ad shows how convenient it is to wireless charge the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+, but when you put an iPhone on it, well…nothing happens.
Apple previously released its own set of ads with the “If it’s not an iPhone, it’s not an iPhone” tagline. Samsung’s response, right off the heels of the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus unveiling, is “It’s not a phone, it’s a Galaxy.”
Now the only real problem is that Samsung’s wireless charging isn’t actually wireless, requiring the pad to be plugged into a wall outlet by way of a cable.
Here’s the ad:

T-Mobile updates latest Galaxy lineup to include video calling feature in advanced messaging
T-Mobile is sending out updates for several Samsung Galaxy phones on its network, covering all the major flagship devices Samsung has released this year. This includes the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, and Galaxy Note 5.
The update is pretty minor, but it does enable the video calling feature in T-Mobile’s advanced messaging. The S6 Edge+ and Note 5 already have video calling, but they’re getting slight interface tweaks in its place.
Not a major update, but expect it to start rolling out to your phone if you have any of these newer Samsung phones on T-Mobile’s network.

Samsung to cut 10% of office staff from its headquarters, analyst says
Samsung is preparing to cut 10% of its office staff at its headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. While there isn’t official confirmation, this is allegedly because of losing smartphone sales to Apple and other Chinese vendors.
The Korean-based company is reportedly looking at specifically getting rid of human resources staff, public relations, and finance positions, according to the Korea Economic Daily. Samsung will further be looking to recoup costs by cutting expenses for 2016.
Samsung had 98,999 employees at its headquarters on June 30 of this year, according to a census report. In other words, Samsung could be cutting the jobs of around 9900 workers.
The tech giant unfortunately has failed to impress consumers with its high-end Galaxy smartphones for the most part of this year, ushering in a 5-month decline. This decline started in April, costing Samsung $40 billion in market value.
There isn’t much hope for the company to see an increase in profits either.
“Cutting jobs is the easiest way to control costs and Samsung’s spending on mobile business could also be more tightly controlled,” said Chung Chang Won, an analyst at Nomura Holdings in Seoul. “Samsung’s preparing to tighten its belt as it isn’t likely see rapid profit growth in the years to come.”
It’s hoped that recent devices like the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ will do well, but as more manufactures offer more appealing devices, the market competition will only increase. Aside from a premium look, there isn’t much incentive for consumers to purchase the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+, which could potentially be very bad for the company’s profits this year.
It’s hoped that Samsung’s next flagship, what will allegedly be the Galaxy S7, will help turn things around.
Samsung will no doubt make an official statement when these job cuts officially take place.

How to set up the fingerprint scanner on a Samsung device
Most hardware manufacturers are apparently still not sold on the value of fingerprint scanners being included with mobile devices. Only Samsung and Apple have consistently pushed flagship phones and tablets with the technology that enhances security. Samsung started including a fingerprint scanner in 2014 with the Galaxy S5 while Apple has been doing so since the release of the iPhone 5S in 2013. Both companies are seeing users enjoy the component because of the various ways a fingerprint scanner can be used. Want to bypass the lock screen by placing your finger on the home button? Go right ahead. Don’t care for remembering login creditals for every site you visit? Then store them with your fingerprint. Fingerprint scanning is only the beginning of how biometrics is changing the world.
In 2015 alone, Samsung has released five devices that offer a fingerprint scanner — the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, and Galaxy Tab S2. Setting up the fingerprint scanner on each of them is the same. So here we are going to show you how to start using your fingerprint as a way to beef up security and get things done quicker.
Hit the break for directions.
- Head to the Settings menu.

- Slide over to the Personal tab.

- Select Lock screen and security.

- Under the “Security” category, choose Fingerprints.

- Adding and/or removing fingerprints and adjusting settings is done from this menu. To get started, select Add fingerprint.

- Now you’ll need to place your finger on the home button of the device and remove it. This is done multiple times so that Samsung can get an understanding of your fingerprint from multiple angles.

Samsung devices allow you to use the fingerprint scanner as a quick web-sign in tool and also to verify your Samsung Account. Instead of constantly logging in to different sites, the device will prompt you to scan place your finger on the home button. Do that and your login credentials will be inputted automatically. The same thing goes for making purchases with a Samsung Account. Then, when Samsung Pay launches in a few weeks, you’ll be able to authorize mobile payments with the fingerprint scanner. Handy, right?

Hands on with People Edge on the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+
When Samsung unveiled their new Galaxy S6 Edge+, they also brought with it one new feature that it’s smaller sibling doesn’t have. That new feature is App Edge, which is an expansion on People Edge.
Like the old People Edge feature, you can swipe from the top right or left of the edge screen (depending on what you picked in the settings) and out will slide a menu. This will show you your top 5 favorite friends and will let you call or text them directly. Any contacts can be added and colors can be changed for each one. The new App Edge is exactly the same, only with apps. To open it, open People Edge and swipe one more time. The menu will now show your favorite apps. Select your favorite top 5 apps and you now have quick access to them no matter where you are on your device.

While this feature is definitely wanted by many, it’s not as good as Glovebox. I have written a full guide on how amazing Glovebox is and why I love it on my S6 Edge. It does basically the same thing, but can also add widgets, more apps, folders, almost anything you would like. Plus, it works on any Android device. However, for those of you who don’t want to install any additional apps, App Edge is a great new feature.
