Google unveils “Cast for Audio”

Google_Logo_Visitors_47558

Google has today taken the wraps off its “Cast for Audio” streaming platform, which has been specifically configured to enable hardware partners to embed Chromecast compatibility into their speakers, soundbars, TV’s and set-top boxes. This provides users with the ability to use Android, iOS and desktop operating systems to stream music, podcasts and more.

Major audio manufacturers Denon, LG and Sony are the first to unveil their “Cast Ready” speakers. Recent reports suggest that gaming-orientated OEM’s are also working with the search engine giant to bring the first Cast Ready console to the market as early as the second quarter of this year.

Users of the Cast Ready speakers will be able to stream content from any application that currently supports Chromecast, like, for example, Google Play Music, Deezer, Pandora, Rdio, TuneIn and iHeartRadio. The process works in exactly the same way, you simply open the app, hit the Cast button and select your destination device.

Google Cast now available for audio, available Spring 2015

Chromecast

Google is taking advantage of their popular Chromecast capabilities by first incorporating cast into the new Nexus Player, but now also extending that capability to audio in the form of Google Cast.

At CES, LG announced that they will have new speakers with a new capability that “Google will announce today.” Google did so on their Chrome Blog, saying that speakers, sound bars, and A/V receivers with Google Cast capabilities will be available this spring from companies like LG, Samsung, and more. And it seems it won’t stop there.

These products will join a growing Google Cast ecosystem, which includes more Android TVs, game consoles and set-top boxes.

Acer launches projector with Chromecast port inside

Acer_H7550ST_picture1

In advance of the upcoming CES 2015 in Vegas, Acer unveiled a new projector yesterday that has a hidden compartment for you to connect your Chromecast into. The projector’s designation is H7550ST and it packs some pretty impressive specs, outside of that bit about the Chromecast.

Acer is hoping that besides home use, the business and education sectors check out this projector. Once the Chromecast is connected inside of the device, the projector can be operated via smartphone or tablet, which would allow for easy usage by the corporate world during meetings or by professors during lecture.

The device is capable of projecting 1080p HD, with the added ability to project 3D video. The device comes with two 10W speakers, but if that’s child’s play compared to your audio set-up, it is able to deliver HD audio wirelessly via BlueTooth to your receiver. Also featured is that the projector is NVIDIA 3DTV Play Ready.

Another interesting perk with the H7550ST is its “short-throw” technology. In layman’s terms, if you’re operating the projector in a cramped environment, it’s still able to deliver large images up to 300-inches on your screen or wall.

The H7550ST will be available in March in the US and Europe for $999 USD.
