More details on BlackBerry’s ‘Venice’ smartphone leaks in a short video
Remember BlackBerry’s Experience Suite announced back at MWC 2015? According to a tweet from EvanBlass, BlackBerry’s Productivity Suite and bits from Blackberry 10 will be coming to the Venice smartphone.
The Experience Suite was split into three sections consisting of BlackBerry Productivity Suite, BlackBerry Communication Suite and BlackBerry Security Suite. Earlier this week we told you Blackberry will be bringing some of its apps over to Android such as calendar, contacts, docs and more. Now we have a leaked video containing more details about what BlackBerry has in store. The company’s goal is to differentiate itself from other Android manufacturers as well as make BlackBerry users feel right at home. No word has been mentioned on when Blackberry plans to release the handset. More details about the Productivity Suite can be seen below in the leaked video below.

BlackBerry’s Android phone should include a ton of BB10 features
BlackBerry’s repeatedly leaked Venice slider may look like it’s running stock Android on the surface, but new leaks suggest that there’s a lot more going on underneath. Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) has posted both animations and file lists hinting that there could be a load of features borrowed from BlackBerry 10 and the BlackBerry Experience Suite. The centerpiece would be BlackBerry Hub that merges all your conversations, but you’d also get unified calendars and contacts, custom apps for basic features (such as notes and tasks) and BlackBerry mainstays like BBM. In essence, Venice shouldn’t just be an AOSP device with a few nods toward BlackBerry’s roots — it’d be a showcase for everything the company can do, and proof that much of the modern BlackBerry experience isn’t dependent on an in-house platform. While there’s a good chance that some of these features could change or disappear by launch, it won’t be shocking if they’re the big highlights for Venice whenever it arrives.

BlackBerry 10 productivity apps could feature on Android-powered BlackBerry Venice
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
For an Android site, we’re talking about BlackBerry a lot lately and strangely, we’re excited about it. The news all centres around the Android-powered BlackBerry Venice, a rumoured device that will marry BlackBerry’s hardware design philosophy with Android’s operating system. But from the sounds of it, not everything is going to be just Android – a leak by @evleaks today suggests that the BlackBerry Venice will have the benefit of BlackBerry 10 productivity apps which will help manage email, contacts, calendar and social media accounts. Check out what looks like promo video describing this functionality:
For those wondering about how Android is going to look like on the device, @evleaks tweeted a list of BlackBerry app names earlier that suggests “this is no stock Android handset” – while this is no real indication as to how it will run, we can be relatively sure that BlackBerry will have had their fingers in every facet of the BlackBerry Venice. Of course, BlackBerry has not even remotely confirmed the device’s existence though the mounting evidence is decidedly hard to ignore.

Here are the apps featured on BlackBerry’s ‘Venice’ phone
This November, BlackBerry will be taking a step in a new direction. The company, which has struggled in recent years to remain competitive, is expected to release an Android-powered device known internally as Venice. The phone has leaked various times, showing that it will have a display with curved edges and BlackBerry’s signature physical keyboard. Although Android 5.0 Lollipop is going to be present, BlackBerry has the option of going with a regular version of Android with their own modifications or using a forked version (like Amazon) where everything is locked.
Now we know that BlackBerry will be using its own launcher at the very least.
Evan Blass took to Twitter on Friday morning to share a list of applications that will be featured on BlackBerry’s Venice. Most of them are self-explanatory: Calendar, BBM, Meetings, Contacts, Help, Tasks, and Notes. Two others — Launcher and Hub — could indicate that Venice will be far from a stock Android experience.
The Hub app is BlackBerry’s place for messages, emails, and notifications to be centralized. The company already uses Hub on devices using its own BlackBerry 10 operating system. The Launcher app, though, causes us to believe that BlackBerry will be doing much more than just having Hub be what makes Venice unique. BlackBerry is likely working on an all-in-one launcher similar to what HTC does with Sense Home.

BlackBerry’s Android-powered slider phone gets shown in motion

Want a closer look at Blackberry’s rumored, occasionally leaked Android, keyboard-toting smartphone? Evan Blass (of @evleaks) has unearthed some device videos that offer a closer look at that all-important sliding keyboard, as well as that increasingly obligatory segmented-here’s-all-the-parts-of-the-camera-lens-render popularized by Nokia a few years ago. If the return of a physical keyboard wasn’t weird enough any more, then how about if the phone, codenamed ‘Venice’ landing in two different iterations? Certainly, two devices are shown in the video, lining up along each other. Crackberry muses that Android and BlackBerry 10 iterations could land alongside each other, although there’s no other hint that back up the notion of smartphone twins.

Leaked video of BlackBerry Venice shows us more of that slide-out keyboard
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
You know, the BlackBerry Venice is starting to really grow on me. BlackBerry has all but disappeared from the smartphone arena (unless you’re an actual BlackBerry fan), but the rumours of an Android-powered smartphone has reignited interest in the once great manufacturer. Much has been made about the device using Android, but we also know that the device will have a slide-out keyboard, something that we haven’t seen in the Android world in quite some time now. Whether or not people would actually be using it or not, it’s still interesting to see what this looks like in this day and age. Naturally, its leaker @evleaks who is giving us a new look at the slide-out keyboard thanks to this short video:

It’s not a long video, but you get a sense of how the device is going to end up looking – and yes, given how many leaks have emerged in the last few weeks, we’re pretty sure this device is going to happen. While BlackBerry is likely going to need to overcome the obvious barrier of being… well, BlackBerry, their device looks like it’s going to be a breath of fresh air in the Android ecosystem.

BlackBerry ‘Venice’ allegedly coming to the Big Four U.S. carriers in November
BlackBerry’s upcoming Android-powered phone, codename Venice, is starting to unofficial make appearances on a frequent basis. Alleged images of the device, including a new one showing the curved display and physical keyboard (seen above), have been appearing online since early July. Between Tuesday night and today, Evan Blass has shared an abundance of information regarding BlackBerry’s product that is tasked with turning around the company’s misfortunes.
Customers of the four largest carriers in the United States will be happy to know that Venice is expected to available this November from Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Rather than partnering with a single carrier to keep the device exclusive, BlackBerry would be going for mass availability by allowing the major carriers to sell Venice.
Blass also shared what looks to be a promotional image highlighting select software features from Venice. BlackBerry will include Content Transfer, a method to bring files from one device to Venice. Based on the description, Content Transfer will move values with Google Drive. BlackBerry Hub will be the place for users to see messages, emails, and notifications from apps and services to be housed in a single place. And, along with Chromecast support, Venice will ship with at least Android 5.0 Lollipop.
And here are two promotional teasers that Blass obtained:

BlackBerry Venice images leak, could land in November
Over the past few weeks, we’ve heard a lot about BlackBerry’s upcoming Venice slider smartphone and further renders of the device have leaked along with more information about when we can expect BlackBerry’s new flagship hit the shelves.

According to perennial tipster Evan Blass (aka @evleaks), BlackBerry’s slider will hit the shelves in November and will be stocked by all four major US carriers. If true (which is likely, given Evan’s pedigree for leaks), it’s interesting that all the carriers are willing to back the handset and it could be a key step in making sure BlackBerry’s new device sells in volume.

The Venice is expected to have a large display that slides up to reveal BlackBerry’s iconic hardware keyboard and based on previous leaks, along with today’s images, we’re expecting the Venice to have curved edges on the display like Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge.
After revealing the release date and carrier plans, Blass went on to leak some more renders (including a couple that have previously leaked), which reveal that Google Play will be a key part of the handset, which is expected to run on a mostly-stock Android OS. With Android M (aka Android Marshmallow) set for release in the coming weeks, the Venice may even run Google’s new OS at launch and we’d certainly hope so given it will launch a couple of months after Android M.

Alongside the Android OS, the BlackBerry Venice is expected to sport a flagship feature set that includes a 5.4-inch Quad HD (2560×1440) pixel display – likely an AMOLED panel if the curved display is being provided by Samsung – and a Snapdragon 808 processor – like the LG G4 – coupled with 3GB RAM.
The BlackBerry Venice is without doubt a throwback to the past in a modern device and as we’ve seen from Samsung, the keyboard might be dead but it isn’t stopping manufacturers from trying to bring it back. Samsung has already launched a “BlackBerry-inspired” keyboard cover for the S6 Edge but based on the final image that Blass shared, the Venice keyboard looks simply fantastic.

Many people claim that BlackBerry should have adopted Android years ago and the Venice aims to right this; the handset looks to offer a sleek unique design and will be one of the few flagship handsets to feature a keyboard. With Android on-board, a premium specs list and the choice of touch or physical keyboards, this could be a handset that makes BlackBerry popular again.
Personally, I can’t wait for this device to be officially announced but what do you think? Do the Venice leaks entice you enough to potentially be on your buy list? Would you use the keyboard? Let us know your views in the comments below!
Leaks indicate Blackberry’s Android slider will launch in November
Legendary leaker Evan Blass, also known as evleaks on Twitter has posted new details that “confirm” the Blackberry Venice will release on all four national carriers in November. Not only that we’re being treated to some new pictures of the device that curiously hide one of the biggest features of the device, the slide out keyboard.
BlackBerry Venice confirmed for November release on all four national US carriers. pic.twitter.com/l5jFCGKLjO
— Evan Blass (@evleaks) August 19, 2015
In case you’re unfamiliar with the Blackberry Venice, here’s what we think we know so far: The Venice will be Blackberry’s big entry into the Android phone market. Up until now Blackberry has relied on their own operating system but with shrinking market share and a lack of top tier apps available for users to download, it gets harder and harder to justify a Blackberry phone on hardware alone. The Venice has been said to carry a slide out keyboard which is a feature high on some users wish list and could differentiate the Venice from other Android devices on the market.
Previous leaks have pointed toward a curved screen much like the new Galaxy S6 Edge Plus along with a Snapdragon 808 SoC powering it, 1440 x 2560 QHD display, and 3 GB of RAM. Google and Blackberry had previously announced an enterprise partnership in July but it seems now that Blackberry is going to test the waters to see if their future lies in the pockets of Android users. Users have previously been able to install some Android apps on Blackberry 10 but it seems now that the Canadian giant is going in with both feet first.
What are your thoughts on the Venice? Will the strategy of top tier hardware and wide availability on all four major carriers be enough to save the wireless giant or is Blackberry still doomed?
