31 Ultra colorful and beautiful QHD and HD wallpapers for your devices

We are just about beyond the days of low-resolution displays. Most new devices are coming out with more pixels than your eyes can even recognize, and with those higher resolution displays, you’ll want cool wallpapers to show it off. That’s where we are heading today. We have a collection of 31 different quad-HD and HD wallpapers to showcase on your various devices. Most of these high-res photos are super vibrant with deep contrast to especially take advantage of those AMOLED displays found on the most recent Nexus and Samsung smartphones.

If you’ve ever seen a QHD display, and someone has a QHD wallpaper, the background looks so realistic that you feel like you’re there. That’s the beauty of the day and age we are currently in. Even if you already have your favorite wallpaper for your mobile device, you can still use any of these wallpapers for your laptop, desktop, or tablets. So check out the wallpapers and download as many as you would like.

The wallpapers are all in the scrolling images above, and if you want to save them, follow these instructions:

  1. Click the left/right arrows to scroll through the images
  2. Maximize the image you like by clicking on it
  3. Long press or hold down on the image and click “save”
  4. Go to your gallery or Google Photos and find your image
  5. Click “use as” and then click wallpaper

If you see a wallpaper that belongs to you and you would like to receive credit, I would love to give it to you! Google Play Books introduces Night Light to help you sleep better

While there is no doubt that technology has made our lives easier, staying glued to mobile phones and tablets for long hours can certainly affect the natural sleep pattern. In order to counter the adverse effects of bright light on our eyes, Google Play Books has introduced its Night Light feature.

After a thorough analysis of Play Books users’ reading patterns, Google found that activity peaks between 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm local time across the globe. But exposure to blue light emitting from electronic devices before bed doesn’t only affect users’ eyes, it is also considered to be one of the major causes of sleeplessness.

Google’s Night Light feature gradually filters blue light from your screen, replacing it with a warm and amber display. It supposedly adjusts the warmth and brightness of the screen according to the amount of sunlight available outside.

nightlight_progression

“Night Light automatically adapts to the amount of natural sunlight outside based on the time of day, giving you just the right temperature and brightness. The color adjustment is more comfortable on your eyes and greatly improves low-light night reading.”

– Greg Hartrell, Senior Product Manager, Google Play Books

The feature has begun rolling out to the Google Play Books app on Android and iOS. Once you update your app, all you have to do is, turn the Night Light mode on when you open an ebook. After that the lighting of your display will adjust according to the time of the day. Do you think that Google Play Book’s new feature will help you sleep better? Write your thoughts in the comments below.

Google Play Books new blue light filter reduces eye strain

Google’s usage research indicates that most of us do a majority of our reading between 8 and 10 pm — you know right before bed. But doing so in a dimly-lit bedroom can wreak havoc on your eyes, not to mention your circadian rhythm. That’s why Google’s newest update to its Play Books app includes a new feature called Night Light.

It gradually replaces the amount of bright blue light emanating from your screen with warmer, yellow tones that don’t reset your internal clock. What’s more, the app matches the screen’s color and brightness to the time of day to further reduce visual strain. The feature is available on Play Books’ most recent versions for both iOS and Android. To activate it, simply tap the Night Light option and the app will take care of the rest.

Google’s Now on Tap gets more helpful for the holidays

With Android Marshmallow, Google debuted a super useful feature called Now on Tap – an efficient way to ping a search from any screen. It enhances the power of the search giant and gets us to the information we need that much quicker.

As it typically goes with new features, there’s lots of room for improvement. With the holidays in full swing, Google made a couple updates to Now on Tap to make it a valuable assistant during this busy time.

For instance, if we’re traveling or picking up a family member who is, we can simply toggle Now on Tap to quickly ping the flight status.

google_flights-v2

Or we can quickly check the status of gifts we’ve ordered. From the package’s confirmation email, you can toggle Now on Tap to get the tracking details.

The great thing about Now on Tap is that it overlays the search information on top of the app you’re currently using. Just dismiss the results to go back to what you were doing.

Google says it’s adding in a Share button to the results “over the coming days”. Also, the following language packages are available with Now on Tap: French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, and Korean. Of course, more languages and features will be added later.

Sonos for Android updated with support for Apple Music beta

sonos_controller_app_icon

Sonos has started rolling out a pretty appealing update for its official companion application for Android. The upgrade brings support for the Apple Music beta, which grants users access to four music-related sections of the service: For You, New, Radio, and My Music. In addition to the new compatibility, the update also bundles performance enhancements for several other third-party music services.

If you’re a frequent Sonos user and you’d like to install the update on your Android-powered smartphone simply open up the Play Store, toggle the hamburger menu by swiping in from the left-hand side of the screen, select ‘My Apps’ and click on Sonos, then tap the update button. Alternatively, you can hit the link below to initiate the download on your handset from the Web.

Use Android Pay to handle your in-app purchases

Android Pay has been handling mobile payments for the Google faithful since September, and now it’s ready to lend a hand inside apps. Starting today, you can use Mountain View’s payments system to complete in-app purchases. Instead of having to pull out your wallet and manually enter card info, you can now easily tap the Android Pay button and confirm your details for quick transactions. The new addition gives Google’s payments system a feature iOS users already had with Apple Pay.

Google says we can expect to see the new feature in a growing list of apps in the coming months. In fact, the likes of DoorDash, OpenTable, Lyft and others are offering some discounts to usher in Android Pay’s arrival inside of those apps. What’s more, Google says its payments platform is heading to Australia in early 2016 with more countries to follow throughout the year.

AT&T pushes BlackBerry Priv update with improved camera, performance and more

blackberry priv review aa (5 of 32)

We often see a first software update like a 1-year birthday. We make a big deal about it, but it’s usually for no real reason, as these tend to offer very little improvements and chances are you won’t really enjoy it that much. The first BlackBerry Priv update has just hit unlocked devices over a week ago, but as we know, carrier subscribers usually have to wait a bit more to get anything.

blackberry-priv-thumbSee also: BlackBerry Priv review46

It turns out BlackBerry Priv users on AT&T didn’t have to wait too long, though. The carrier has just started pushing out the first OTA update to the BlackBerry Priv. Weighing in at about 475 MB, it is certainly not as tiny as we would expect an initial update to be. And it isn’t; this does add a few convenient improvements.

blackberry priv review aa (3 of 32)

The update seems to be nearly identical to what unlocked users got. Camera improvements should make taking a picture faster, and quality is improved by all the photo processing tweaks. Overall system stability and performance should also be superior after a few squished bugs. And finally, BlackBerry has also improved security by adding the latest available patches. This is, after all, a security-focused smartphone, right?

This OTA update is not the only treat you have lined up, though. Plenty of BlackBerry apps are also getting a handy update in the Google Play Store. The Keyboard, Hub, Contacts and DTEK apps are all getting added support and their fair share of improvements.

AT&T BlackBerry Priv users should already start seeing those update notifications, so go check your phone if you haven’t updated it yet. As always, keep in mind these updates usually roll out in stages, so you may not see yours coming in yet. Just sit tight and be patient!

WSJ: Samsung’s Galaxy S7 will have a pressure-sensitive display

Nine months is a long time in the smartphone industry, so it should come as no surprise that Samsung is already preparing to launch the next iteration of its flagship smartphone. While the Korean smartphone maker may still be a few months away from showing us what’s new, the Wall Street Journal has already caught wind of some of the features we can expect to see in the Galaxy S7. According to reporters, Samsung will include a “pressure-sensitive display and a new high-speed charging port” in its new devices, which are slated to launch in March.

The company is reportedly considering the inclusion of a retina scanner in some versions of its new flagship, although that is not yet set in stone. Like the Galaxy S6, Samsung will debut two models: the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.

With the inclusion of a pressure-sensitive display, Samsung looks set to follow Apple, which is already touting “3D Touch” functionality. With a USB Type-C port, the Galaxy S7 will charge significantly faster, with sources telling the Wall Street Journal that devices will “allow for a full day’s charge in under 30 minutes and in some cases significantly faster than that.” An improved camera is also said to be coming — one that that performs better in low-light and sits flat on the back of the device (the Galaxy S6 accommodated a small bump).

Overall, it doesn’t appear that the Galaxy S7 family will differ that much from last year’s models. However, Samsung’s new smartphone chief will hope that he can gauge demand better than his predecessor and avoid making too many (or too few) of its popular handsets. We can expect the Galaxy S7 family to make its debut in or around Mobile World Congress, which opens on February 22nd, with the handsets going on sale a couple of weeks later. The quick launch is said to be deliberate: Samsung doesn’t want to let any of its rivals steal a march this time around.
