LG Watch Urbane now available on Google Play

The LG Watch Urbane is now available at the Google Play store for $349.00.  The LG Watch Urbane is LG’s Android watch that is “sophisticated” with either a gold or silver face.  The watch also comes with an actual leather band that looks as good as the watch itself.  If you don’t like the band, LG designed the Urbane to accept standard watch bands which means if you want a metal band, and all you have to do is head over to Amazon.com and order a replacement that is more suitable to your liking.

The Urbane comes with Gorilla Glass 3, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of memory, Wi-Fi, and a water resistance rating of IP67.  As of right now, the Google Play store says the watch will ship on May 8.

Yesterday the new LG Watch Urbane made its debut on the Google Store for a good portion of the world to order. It carried a $349.00 price tag with a ship date starting May 8th. Prior to that news we got our hands on some information that Verizon Wireless would be carrying the device on April 28th. Looks like the docs panned out and Verizon is indeed offering the new Android Wear toting device.

Running through the order process I see that Verizon is offering FREE 2-day shipping on all orders. That would place the LG Watch Urbane to your door by April 30th if you get your order in now. If you want to shell out a few bucks more, $12.99, you can opt for overnight delivery. The only potential downside is that the Verizon offering is only available in silver with the gold option not present. If the silver variant was your choice to begin with, then the $0.99 difference to have the device a week earlier than those who jumped on the Google Store option is a small price to pay.

Direct yourself over to Verizon Wireless to get your order started.

You can no longer buy the LG G Watch from the Google Store

LG G Watch unboxing initial setup (13 of 13)

You can no longer purchase one of the first Android Wear-powered smartwatches from the Google Store. Announced alongside Google’s new Android Wear platform, the LG G Watch was a solid start to Android Wear, and perfect for those who were weary about joining the smartwatch craze.

LG G Watch Google Store

We can’t say that the removal comes as a surprise, though. The G Watch has seen a number of significant discounts in recent months, and LG has been no slack on releasing new Android Wear devices to take its place. In the past few months, the company has launched the LG Watch Urbane (now available in the Google Store) and dropped the price on the G Watch R.

While Google’s push to offer users the latest and greatest smartwatches is apparent, you can still buy the G Watch through other retailers like Amazon. The watch isn’t the prettiest on the market, but it does offer one of the longest-lasting and quickest Android Wear experiences out there. If you’d still like to pick one up before they’re all gone, Amazon is currently selling the Black model for around $115.

LG Watch Urbane now available in the Google Store

LG_Watch_Urbane 1LG’s stylish Watch Urbane has finally become available to purchase in the Google Store, so if you’ve been waiting for your chance to pick one up, the wait is finally over. It’s carrying a $349 price tag, similar to what we were expecting, so no surprises there.

The Watch Urbane sports a Snapdragon 400 CPU with 512 MB of RAM, a 1.3-inch P-OLED display with a 320 x 320 resolution, IP67 certification for dust and water resistance. And, of course, it’s running on the Android Wear platform. The biggest selling point, though, is the design of the watch. With a gold or silver face and a sophisticated leather band, this is easily one of the most attractive Android Wear designs we’ve seen.

Another side effect of this release is that the G Watch R’s price has taken a dip down to $249, so if the Watch Urbane is too rich for your blood, the older model is slightly more affordable now.

LG Watch Urbane now available at Verizon Wireless

lg-watch-urbane-e-lgurbane-verizon-wireless

As expected, Verizon Wireless has now made the LG Watch Urbane available for $349, which is the same price as the Google Store. From what we can tell, it appears to be online only. Unfortunately the gold version isn’t showing, but that might change over the next few hours.

Two day shipping is also free, which is better than what the Google Store if offering. Even better, Verizon is shipping now so you will get your watch even sooner. Google is showing May 8th for shipping at of the time of this post.

Don’t expect to see the ASUS ZenWatch 2 before 2016

asus-zenwatch-official_01ASUS is preparing their highly anticipated ZenWatch 2 for release sometime “soon,” but “soon” to ASUS doesn’t mean by the end of 2015. According to CEO Jerry Shen, the watch won’t be ready for debut until 2016 at the earliest. No word on what part of 2016 he’s expecting, but I would imagine we should see it within the first few months of the year, with that being over 3/4 of a year away.

An interesting note he made, however, was that ASUS plans to release two versions of the ZenWatch 2. One model will be for men, and one for women. Seems like a no-brainer move in retrospect, but I guess most companies think that a majority of their products at geared at men, so they’ve never bothered making female-specific models. Of course, when companies do make products targeted at a more feminine audience, they tend to be a disaster. Anybody remember the HTC Bliss?

We may not have anything official until 2016, but we’ll keep you updated as we learn more about the watch.

Verizon to sell LG’s Watch Urbane for $349 from April 28th

LG_Watch_Urbane 1

With its round face and sophisticated design, it’s easy to see why many of us think that LG’s Watch Urbane is arguably one of the most stylish looking smartwatches around. LG’s latest smartwatch only became available in Korea yesterday, and now we have news that the US carrier, Verizon, will be offering the Watch Urbane soon.

According to the leaked marketing material (courtesy of AndroidSpin), the Watch Urbane will be priced at $349 (£229). The model on offer is the standard version of the Watch Urbane that runs on the Android Wear operating system, unlike the LTE version that runs on LG’s ‘Wearable Platform‘ that is believed to be based on webOS.

The leaked material also gives away the date of availability, which is April 28th, coinciding nicely with the upcoming launch of LG’s latest flagship smartphone, the G4. The Watch Urbane does include the necessary WiFi component to take full advantage of the recent Android Wear update, unlike the square-faced G Watch. Is LG’s Watch Urbane the Android Wear smartwatch you’ve been waiting for?

The LG Watch Urbane is probably one of the hottest Android Wear devices that has ever been created. The Moto 360 is still top of the list for many who want Android Wear on a round faced device. Sure the LG G Watch R did it too, but not to the elegance of the Moto 360. The LG Watch Urbane on the other hand, has easily been responsible for some puddles of drool for many enthusiasts. The new watch did receive an official announcement this week that placed it in the Play Store by the end of the month with it gracing Korea today. Thanks to a source, we also have confirmation that the LG Watch Urbane will be landing on Verizon‘s network on April 28th for $349.99.

LG Watch Urbane launches in Korea for slightly more than LG G Watch R

lg_watch_urbane_promo_image

LG is poised to launch the LG Watch Urbane next week in 13 countries through the Google Play Store, but buyers in Korea get a little hometown advantage as LG has started selling the device in that country through the major carriers starting today. One of the big questions about the device is what the selling price would be given that it is a slight step up from the LG G Watch R. In Korea at least, the answer is about $30 more, which is not quite a ten percent increase. When launched, the LG G Watch R sold for $332 in Korea and the new LG Watch Urbane is listing at $365 today.

The big change LG brings to the market compared to their previous smartwatches is the built-in WiFi chip in the Watch Urbane. This means the device can be used, and communicate with its paired smartphone, without a Bluetooth connection being established.

LG also made some improvements to the software on the device so users can use LG Call to view recent calls to their number and LG Pulse to view heart rate monitor data in real time. The Watch Urbane will also be shipping with the latest version of Android Wear already loaded.

Take notes on your wrist with Google Keep and Android Wear

Keep, Google’s cloud-based note taking app, has always been pretty handy. But having to pull out and unlock your phone, then launch the program, open a new note and finally type in your thought is often enough to make anybody yearn for a pencil and pad of paper. Luckily, Google has a newly updated means of jotting down ideas as easy as talking to the back of your hand — you just need to shell out a couple hundred bucks for an Android Wear watch to use it.

According to the official Google Android Blog, Android users with devices running Ice Cream Sandwich and newer will be able to access the Note app directly from their wristwatch while leaving their phone in their pocket. Users can activate the app with “OK Google, open Keep” or jump directly to dictation with the command “OK Google, take a note.” Existing features like swipe-and-tap navigation and adding reminders to existing notes directly from the watch are still supported.
