Deal: Moto 360 with metal band on sale for just $150 from Best Buy ($50 off)

Motorola just recently dropped the Moto 360 down to $149.99 for all leather band models, and metal band versions of the smartwatch saw a price drop to $199.99. If you’ve been waiting for the metal band variant to drop down even further than that, you’re in luck. Right now, you can pick up a Moto 360 with a metal band in both 23 and 18mm variants from Best Buy for just $149.99. Considering that’s $50 less than what Motorola is charging for these devices, this is quite the steal.

Before you buy, keep in mind that a new version of the smartwatch may launch sometime soon. Just a few days ago Motorola posted (and quickly removed) a video featuring a render of the next-generation device. A few days before that, a mystery Motorola smartwatch passed through the FCC, which signals that a new Moto 360 could be on its way sometime soon.
Still, though, I’d personally say $150 is quite the deal for the best looking Android Wear smartwatch on the market. If you’d like some more information on the watch before you buy, feel free to check out our full review to see just what you can get for $150. Fossil releases Android Wear smartwatch with flat-tire along with other wearables
At IDF today, Fossil unveiled an Android Wear smartwatch alongside other Intel powered wearables.
Fossil has been around the industry for a while but this is the first time the company announced hardware. The company discussed its plans to release a connected bracelet, a connected watch and perhaps the most exciting of the three a Android Wear smartwatch. The company thought it was cool not to give out any details regarding specifications for the upcoming wearables. Instead, it showed off the wearables themselves rather than going on about the internals. So far all we know is that all three wearables will be powered by Intel.
Fossil’s Android Wear powered smartwatch will feature a round display including a multitude of materials and different band options. One could expect to see Silver and Gold color options as well as leather and metal band choices. The face of the watch can very much be related to that of the Moto 360 smartwatch. It’s round in shape and appears to have the same black bottom or flat tire it’s often called.
Fossil says we can expect to see the wearables hit the shelves just in time for the holiday season.

Fossil unveils its Intel-powered Android Wear watch, flat-tire display in tow
Typical Fossil mechanical watches.
We’ve known for a while now that watchmaker Fossil was planning on entering the smartwatch game with its own Android Wear-powered device, but today we are finally getting our first glimpse at the new smartwatch. The watchmaker to took the stage at Intel’s Developer Conference to show off three new wearable devices, actually: a fitness band of sorts, a semi-smart watch, and a full-fledged smartwatch that is powered by Android Wear and will be the first of its kind to utilize an Intel processor onboard.

At a glance, the watch looks a little like a cross between the LG Urbane and the Moto 360, borrowing the same controversial flat-tire-look as the latter watch. It’s unclear what kind of band or finish choices Fossil will offer on the final product, but the model shown off on stage was equipped with a black leather strap and a fairly standard silver metallic finish.
Of course what we are really dying to know is the specifics of hardware, battery life, pricing, and release timeframe. Unfortunately, no such luck just yet. All we know for certain is it will come in at least a few different color combos and will arrive “in time for the holidays”. Based on the little we know about the Fossil Android Wear watch, what do you think so far? Does the black bar turn you off or are you unconcerned by it?
Motorola briefly teases the new Moto 360 on Twitter

Motorola still hasn’t released any official details regarding the next-generation Moto 360 smartwatch, but a big leak from the company earlier today may suggest the new device is coming our way soon. Motorola posted (then quickly deleted) a video on its Twitter account of what appears to be the new Moto 360, giving us a pretty clear look at the device’s new form factor. The video also appeared on the company’s Instagram account, but that video was also deleted soon after it was posted.

The screenshot above shows off the supposed next-gen device, which features a power button that sits at the 2 o’clock position, as opposed to the 3 o’clock placement on the first-gen watch. The device also looks to have newer lugs that will perhaps make it easier to swap out watch straps. Also featured in the new render is the “flat tire” from last year’s model, which is a design element many consumers weren’t happy with the first time around.

The render attached above looks almost identical to the leaked images from Lenovo’s CEO that we saw back in May.
Of course, this video doesn’t confirm anything quite yet, though it’s very suspicious that the company would tweet out a video and delete it right away. What say you? Could this be another look at the new Moto 360?
Android Wear v1.3 scores new features and functions

A well needed firmware update will be hitting Android Wear smartwatches in the near future. The update will bring all sorts of new features. According to Android Police, here are just some of them:
- Interactive watch faces that respond to your touch
- Together watch face to keep you connected to a friend
- Weather app to see the forecast for the next 4 days
- Translate app that lets you tilt your wrist to share a translation

The update is slated as version 1.3 for the Android Wear companion application.
Google is hoping the app will help close the gap between its Android Wear platform and Apple’s Watch OS. Developers will be able to add these features to their apps as soon as the firmware updates arrive. The update is rolling out to Android Wear smartwatch owners in the comping days, so be patient. Note that none of the changes will take place until Google releases the official firmware update for your select Android Wear smartwatch. Once both the smartwatch and the Android Wear application on your smartphone or tablet are up to date, you will begin seeing the new features.

Hopefully we can expect the Huawei Watch any day now
there haven’t been much announcements lately about any new smart watches coming out soon. There have been rumors that Samsung is slated to release their next editions of their smart watch lineup, but nothing has really come to fruition.
One smart watch that we know is coming for sure, is Huawei’s foray into the growing field. Back in March the Chinese company announced their first Android Wear smart watch, the Huawei Watch. However, there were no details about when the smart watch would be available.
Well, thanks to the folks over at Phandroid, we now know that the release may be coming sooner rather than later. The official product page on Huawei’s website has gone live, where folks can sign up to be notified when the smart watch is officially available.
Some may not have known, or had forgotten that Huawei was coming out with a smart watch. For those folks, we have a little spec sheet to share, to let you know what to expect out of the latest Android Wear device.
- 1.4 inch AMOLED display
- 1.2GHz Qualcomm Processor
- 4GB of storage
- 512MB RAM
- Bluetooth 4.1
- 300 mAh Battery
These aren’t earth shattering specs, and they definitely won’t rock the boat, so to speak. However, if you look at just some of the pictures of Huawei’s upcoming Android Wear device, you may just fall in love. The Huawei Watch is beautifully designed, and really features a more professional, and classy look. There’s also no sight of the flat tire that is found on the Moto 360, so no worries on that end either.
Let us know what you think about the new Huawei Watch in the comments section below. Is the impending release holding you back from jumping on the train for another smart watch?

Stylish Huawei Watch release appears right round the corner
There is no denying the usability of smartwatches but usually their bulky design makes the style conscious people wary of choosing them over classic analog watches. But all that is about to change with the release of the Huawei Watch just round the corner.
Although the date of the release has not been confirmed, it is available for preorder on Huawei’s US website. The listing reads, “It is right round the corner. Sign up now for the latest news and updates about the Huawei Watch.” The post makes us believe that it won’t be long before we can lay our hands on the premium-looking wearable that has garnered a lot of interest among users as well as technology enthusiasts right since its announcement in March at MWC 2015.
The Huawei Watch features a 1.4-inch AMOLED display with a 400 x 400 pixels resolution, which comes with sapphire glass protection. It is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor and 512MB of RAM. It comes with 4GB on board storage and Android Wear software out of the box.
Available in gold, silver and black colors, the smartwatch has a stainless steel body that measures 42mm in diameter and 11.3mm in terms of thickness. There are at least 40 designs of straps to choose from.

Hangouts 4.0 is now available with updated Material Design and Android Wear functions
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Hangouts has today graduated to the next level. Google has today released the Hangouts 4.0 update, and it brings with it a huge number of improvements, not least of all an updated Material Design interface and some really nifty Android Wear features. The full list of changes, according to Google, is as follows:
- Hangouts is sleeker. Now updated with material design, Hangouts has a new look and feel: items respond to your touch in more intuitive ways and transitions between tasks are more fluid.
- Hangouts is simpler. The new Compose button makes it easier for you to start a new group or conversation. Our streamlined contacts list helps you find the right person quickly. And attachments have been revamped and simplified, so sharing—of emoji, GIFs, your location, even multiple photos at once—is a snap.
- Hangouts is faster. Whether you’re sending a quick message or video chatting with family, you don’t want hold-ups. We’ve been obsessively fixing bugs and speeding up message delivery to make Hangouts faster and more reliable. Bonus: less battery consumption.
- Make affordable calls from the Hangouts Dialer, now with Outbound Caller ID (so your friends won’t get any more calls from the great “Unknown”).Use Hangouts on Android Wear when you really have an eye on the time (just say, “Ok Google, send a Hangouts message,” into your watch).
- Receive and reply to group MMS messages in Hangouts using Google Voice.
- Use Hangouts on Android Wear when you really have an eye on the time (just say, “Ok Google, send a Hangouts message,” into your watch).
- And if you’re not around but want friends to know what’s on your mind? Custom status messages are back.
Excited? We are too. The update should be rolling out now so make sure you compulsively check your Play Store until it does. Or, you can download the Hangouts 4.0 APK here.

Huawei’s Android Wear smartwatch is “right round the corner”
Will the Huawei Watch be made available next week, next month, or next year? That is the thought of many since Huawei’s Android Wear smartwatch was announced almost six months ago. The company still has not offered a release date or specified its price. Huawei has remained silent on sharing any details. A new signup page, though, could be an indication that Huawei is preparing to release its smartwatch very soon.
The page is headed by a teaser saying that the Huawei Watch is “right round the corner.” You would be correct in seeing two meanings there. The smartwatch will indeed have a round design and its release is in the near future.
Taylor Wimberly, a Huawei employee, also posted to his Google+ account the following:
Huawei may be waiting for a major update to Android Wear before sales of its first Android Wear smartwatch begin. Until then, you can marvel at the Huawei Watch’s alleged retail packaging.

Microsoft Translator brings Android Wear support to users
Google Translate on Android devices is certainly an impressive app to help users break down the language barrier. Now Google is getting some competition on their own devices from Microsoft which has released their own Microsoft Translate app. Translate brings one feature to Android that will likely be welcomed by users and that is support for Android Wear devices. Users can just speak into their Android Wear device to get a translation either verbally or graphically.
Microsoft indicates the Android Wear app, or the companion app running on a smartphone, is capable of providing “instant” translations of 50 languages. The app will synchronize between an Android Wear device and a smartphone and will let users bookmark translations to be called up quickly when needed again.
If you want to give Microsoft Translate a try, use the link below to get it from the Google Play Store.
