Android 5.0 “Lion” leaked on alledged new Nexus

nestle lion

The launch of a new Nexus and refreshed version of Android is coming up next month, and now is the time rumors and leaks start to trickle in. EMT Leaks has apparently leaked a spec list of what is assumed to be the next Nexus phone… The Nexus 5 (2014). The screenshot below shows info on a phone not called the Nexus 6 or Nexus X, but the Nexus 5 (2014).

EMTLeaks_Nexus-5_Lion

The biggest news shown here is the version of Android being called “Lion”. This contradicts rumors of it being called “Lemon Meringue Pie” or “Lollipop”. Lion is a chocolate candy bar by Nestle, so it isn’t too crazy they would partner with Nestle again like they did with KitKat.

The rest of the specs on this info sheet are what we’ve been seeing before, with a 5.2″ 2560×1440 QHD resolution screen, Snapdragon 805 processor with Adreno 420 GPU, 3GB RAM and a 12 megapixel back shooter.

Only to be taken as a grain of salt, this info sheet is in the first group of many rumors to come. We’ll keep you posted on all rumors and info in the days to come.

Android L to be Called Lion?! HTC may Abandon Smartwatch Production. – ManDroid Daily

android-l-lion-android-5-0-htc-smartwatch

Looks like Android L might get a name that isn’t so much a dessert, but the king of the damn jungle. Rumors of course. Nothing to get upset about; although the rumor suggests that the Lion name comes from the Nestle’s Lion Bar, and we know Android is still tied to Nestle since KitKat. Time will tell gang, but it also looks like HTC might drop the smartwatch game for a bit, which no one should be sad about. Take your time HTC, it’ll be good for you. Enjoy the Daily.

False Alarm: Crane notice at Google wasn’t for Android L lawn statue

Android L lawn statueWe Android fans are particularly excited when a new build of Android is about to be released, not only because there is going to be new, fantastical software, but also because there’s going to be a new lawn statue at Google HQ. So when a notice for impending crane work went up at Google HQ (see above), we naturally assumed they might be bringing in the new Android L lawn statue. While the event in itself might not be the most exciting, it’s what the lawn statue is going to be ‘made of’ that is the exciting part – is it going to be Lemon Meringue Pie as many pundits are suggesting?

As it turns out, the Android L lawn statue wasn’t brought in and only some rearrangement of the existing lawn statues was done. Check out the pictures below to see if you can spot the differences:

After

You could definitely make the case that they are making space for the Android L lawn statue, but we’ll have to go back to speculating what the “L” in “Android L” is for a little while longer. Hopefully though, it won’t be much of a wait.

What do you think about Android L and what its real name will be? Let us know your opinion.

Android Lemon Meringue Pie gets spotted in Chromium issue tracker as build LRW50D

android lemon meringue pieThe Chromium issue tracker is often a good place to spot a new Nexus device or build of Android, and today appears to be our lucky day. Sported by a device known as the “New Nexus7″ – make of that what you will – a certain build of Android has been spotted with build number LRW50D. We know it is Google convention to always start the build number with the letter of its code name, at this point suspected to be Android Lemon Meringue Pie. What follows is usually a series of unique identifiers that let us know exactly when the build was created. In this case, it appears the build is from the 19th of August, 2014 and is the fourth version of the build that day. Naturally, the date isn’t an exact science due to some code inheriting dates, but it’s definitely in the right ballpark.

The “New Nexus7″ part of this story is probably of no consequence – this is most likely just the 2013 Nexus 7 – however it’s clear that it was running some form of Android L when this issue was made. Myce.com, who found this issue, also notes that numerous references to “lmp-dev” were made in the code; we know that “lmp” is also referenced within the Android SDK itself, which originally gave birth to the Lemon Meringue Pie rumours.

Nexus 6 Actually Nexus X?! LG G-Watch 2 is Beautifully Round! – ManDroid Daily

mandroid-nexus-x-lg-g-watch-2

Monday is over, so time to check out what is happening in the Android world. Seems that the next Nexus phone might be called the Nexus X, as opposed to Nexus 6. Makes sense, given the name “Nexus 6″ has been used in a little book, that was then adapted to a movie called Blade Runner. LG seems to have kept their word about announcing a new G-Watch at IFA, and it looks pretty glorious. Enjoy the Daily!

Android L to be Lemon Meringue Pie?! Moto X+1 Gets Press Render! – The ManDroid Show

mandroid-android-l-moto-x

Happy Sunday Android friends. I apologize for being so late for The ManDroid Show this week. Looks like we might have our name for Android L, and I will say I am not a fan. Lollipop or Lava Cake would’ve been fine, but long as that Material Design is running buttery smooth, I guess the name shouldn’t matter. The Moto X+1 finally gets an official render, and it might see an official name as well. Enjoy the show!

Is Android L’s official name going to be ‘Lemon Meringue Pie’?

Lemon Meringue PieWith each new build of Android comes the game where we try and guess what the official name of the build is going to be. For this next build, which we currently only know as Android L, we’ve had assertions that it called ‘Lollipop’, however the answer might actually lie in the Android L preview code, and its name could be “Lemon Meringue Pie“. According to Android Police, the Android SDK refers to the preview builds for Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 as the “lmp-preview-release”:

And in yesterday’s leak of the HTC Nexus’ Wi-Fi certification (see the leak here), we can clearly see “LMP” as part of the firmware version for the device. So it seems pretty likely that “LMP” actually refers to the Android build name, which we’re guessing stands for Lemon Meringue Pie. Keep in mind though that the last build of Android, which we now know as Android KitKat, was actually called KLP, or Key Lime Pie, in the Android SDK and it seems it was a relatively last minute deal by Google to partner with Nestle for the launch.

Do you think LMP, or Lemon Meringue Pie, is the real name of the next Android build? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
