Hello deal hunters, here are a couple of interesting promos we’ve spotted for you on Amazon today.

Kingston microSD cards

kingston microsd

If you’re looking for some microSD memory to supplement your device’s storage space, Kingston microSD cards are currently discounted by around 50% on Amazon. The deal includes the 16, 32, and 64 GB size options of the Class-10 Kingston Digital microSD card, which has an excellent 4.7 stars review average. We’ve seen better deals for microSD cards before, but this still looks like a good promo if you need one right now.

UE MINI BOOM wireless speakers

UE MINI BOOM

Next up, two color options of the UE MINI BOOM wireless speaker are still on sale. These well-reviewed speakers feature deep bass and loud sound and a battery that’s good for up to 10 hours of playback. 4.4 stars review average. The black and red models are currently discounted by 30% off their regular price.

If a nice pair of headphones is what you’re after, you may be interested in the MEElectronics Air Fi Runaway wireless/wired headphones, currently available in several paint schemes for 60% off their regular price. With an average review score of 4.2, these headphones feature 40mm drivers, built-in microphone, a sportsy collapsible design (travel bag included), and the ability to be used over Bluetooth or wire.

Batyek 3,000 mAh battery

Finally, if you’re craving an external battery that’s more stylish than average, Amazon is also discounting the Baytek 3,000 mAh powerbank. Made of real wood and averaging a 4.7 stars review score, this Baytek powerbank isn’t the best bang for the buck, if you’re just looking for capacity. But if you just want an attractive, tiny (1-in wide, 4-in long) battery that you can easily carry in your pocket to get you through your daily commute, it’s a great option. Adding the AP87DCFY promo code at check out will bring down the price of the Baytek 3,000 mAh to just $9.99.

That’s it – let us know if you like any of the deals and drop us a line if you find other good offers!

At last, Amazon’s voice-guided speaker buys things for you

Amazon Echo

You’d think that an internet shopping giant like Amazon would have baked purchasing into its voice-controlled Echo speaker at the very start, but nope — the best you could do until now was add items to a shopping list. At long last, though, that hands-free shopping feature is here. So long as you’re an Amazon Prime subscriber, you can tell the Echo to re-order items you’ve purchased in the past. You can’t buy whatever you like as a result, but the speaker will offer an alternative (or at worst, put something on your shopping list) if it doesn’t find what you were looking for. Suffice it to say that this could save you a lot of clicks if Amazon is your one-stop supply shop.

Amazon Echo ready to help fulfill your order

amazon_echo

We don’t quite have replicators like they had on Star Trek, but Amazon’s Echo appliance is helping create the illusion that we are getting closer to that reality. With their latest update to the voice-activated home accessory, users can now use a voice-command to place an order from Amazon.

To use the feature, consumers have to already have an Amazon Prime membership, which they should have already had in place to get their hands on an Amazon Echo along with an invitation. They also have to have up-to-date and accurate U.S.-based payment methods and a U.S. address.

The new function is primarily designed to reorder items that a Prime member has purchased in the past. If for some reason the item is no longer available, Amazon will offer a suggested alternative. The item also has to be eligible for Amazon Prime. Once the user issues the command, the Echo appliance will walk the user through the process of setting up a confirmation code if not present already.

Using Amazon Echo and the new reorder command means users can now issue a command and have an item show up on their door a couple days later. It is not quite as fast and convenient as a replicator on board a starship, but it is a step in that direction.

Twitch’s live game video streaming arrives on Roku players

Twitch on Roku

You now have an easy way to follow your favorite Twitch game streamers on a big screen without splurging on a console or Fire TV. The live video service has just launched a channel for Roku players, helping you keep up with tournaments and “let’s play” sessions on a cheap and cheerful media hub. The interface will seem familiar if you’ve used Twitch’s other apps, but that’s not exactly a major gripe. Give it a spin today if you’d rather watch a DOTA 2 match than Don Draper.

Walmart is developing a $50 Amazon Prime-like service

Walmart’s apparently gearing up to challenge Amazon on its turf and has conjured up a Prime competitor that will begin testing as soon as this summer. According to sources, the company’s unlimited two-to-three-day shipping service for online purchases will cost $50, almost half of what Prime costs ($99). Amazon’s version comes with add-ons, though, such as free video and music streaming, which Walmart won’t be able to offer for now. However, The Information says Walmart is considering adding features to its codename “Tahoe” service. They may include something that involves Vudu, a video streaming service the company owns, as well as same-day grocery delivery, which it already does in five markets. The chain might also partner with other companies for perks meant to entice customers to sign up.

Walmart is leagues behind Amazon when it comes to online shopping, and up until now, it’s been incapable of fulfilling two-day shipping for orders made via its website. This project requires serious investment and a willingness in the part of the old-school retailer (as The Information calls it) to change its ways and improve its online presence and infrastructures. The service launching this summer is invite-only, and the company will only decide where to go from there based on the testers’ feedback.

Amazon’s Echo wireless speaker gets voice-controlled Prime Stations

Amazon has added Prime Stations to Echo, its wireless speaker-slash-personal assistant, perhaps in hopes that it would get more people to press the “Request an invitation” button. Prime Stations are the company’s ad-free radio feeds — basically playlists that bundle Prime Music’s offerings based on artists and genres. The feature’s been available for iOS and Android devices for a month or so, but since Echo is a voice-activated assistant, it comes with a bunch of spoken commands. You can, for instance, play a specific station by saying “Alexa (that’s Echo’s voice assistant name), play the Bruno Mars Prime Station.”

To choose what to listen to, say “Alexa, next,” “Alexa, pause/resume” or “Alexa, go back.” If you don’t know what’s playing, simply ask “Alexa, what song is this?” And to personalize the station, say “Alexa, thumbs up/thumbs down” — the assistant will learn what to play next time based on your ratings. In addition, the e-commerce giant is now sharing around 100 IFTTT recipes cooked up by users when the integration arrived earlier this month. As we said, though, Echo remains available via invite-only, and you’ll have to spend some time on a waiting list before you can actually purchase one.

Patent for Amazon Prime Air drone reveals user tracking for delivery

amazon_prime_air_drone_1

The upcoming Amazon Prime Air service will deliver goods from the online retailer to locations specified by customers. A patent filed last September, though, reveals that the service could actually deliver to customers wherever they are. It would be done by utilizing GPS technology found in practically every smartphone on the market today. Even when a customer changes his or her location, the Prime Air drone will adapt and reroute itself. The filing also reveals that Prime Air drones will communicate with each other to trade information relating to traffic and weather.

Amazon is still working on bringing Prime Air to the public despite pushback from the government.
