[Deal] Amazon Fire TV Stick gets discounted to $24 at Best Buy
Amazon’s Fire TV Stick is fighting to be your home’s center for media streaming. For a limited time, the little dongle will set you back only $24 when you purchase it at your local Best Buy store or online. This is down from the original price of $39, nearly a 40% discount.
How does this price compare to the competition? Best Buy has the Chromecast for $29 and Roku streaming stick for $49. The advantage, at least for today, goes to Amazon and the Fire TV Stick.
Best Buy lists this offer as their Deal of the Day, so you might want to hit this up if you’re in the market for a device to stream content. The electronics retailer is also offering free shipping on any online purchase of $35 or more and 5% back in rewards.

Amazon selects Staples as the Echo’s exclusive third-party retailer (with a catch)
Finally, Amazon’s Echo digital assistant is being offered through a third-party retailer. Amazon selected Staples to sell the Echo exclusively. The only catch is that Staples’ thousands of stores will not be selling the device, preventing anyone interested from entering their local Staples store and walking out with the Echo. Prospective buyers will have to stay online and go to the retailer’s site in order to make a purchase.
Only non-Prime members should be taking a look at purchasing the Echo through Staples. Otherwise, take advantage of Amazon’s membership services and receive free two-day shipping.

Amazon’s voice-controlled Echo speaker is now available at Staples
If you find yourself re-ordering office supplies, you can also nab Amazon’s smart speaker in one fell swoop. Staples is the only place other than Amazon where you can purchase the voice-controlled Echo device. While Echo is listed on the Staples website, it’s unclear whether or not the speaker will be available in stores (the two stores closest to me don’t have them). The retailer known for paper and pens may seem like an odd choice as the only “exclusive” spot to nab the Alexa-powered gadget, but Staples also sells Kindles, Fire TV and Fire tablets, so it’s not too much of a stretch. If you’re looking to grab one, it carries the same $180 price tag and is available now via the Staples website.

ZTE Axon Pro now on sale through Amazon, Ebay, and NewEgg for $449
After being announced and put up for pre-order earlier last month, ZTE’s new flagship device, the Axon Pro is now on sale. If you are anxious to get your hands on this device, and are looking for a new GSM phone, you can get the Axon Pro from Ebay, Amazon, or NewEgg today.
Sporting a 5.5″ QHD LCD display with the SnapDragon 810 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 3,000 mAh battery, the Axon Pro is an intriguing device, if you’re in the market. The Axon Pro also comes with a dual rear camera (13MP + 2MP depth sensor) and Android 5.1 Lollipop, this really could be a “flagship killer” of sorts. ZTE is also touting the Axon Pro as the “first true high-fidelity phone available in the US” which is intriguing for those audiophiles out there, or those who are just tired of the crappy speakers in some phones today.
If you’re looking to pick this up, Amazon is only selling the Pththalo Blue model, eBay has all three models, the Pththalo Blue, Ion Gold, and Chromium Silver for sale. At this time, NewEgg was offering the all three models, but have sold out and those devices are currently on back-order. Regardless of where you purchase these devices from, all three retailers are selling the Axon Pro for $449.98, which is a pretty good deal for what you get with this device.
Let us know in the comments below, whether you are interested in what ZTE is doing with the Axon Pro.

Amazon limits Prime sharing benefits to one other adult
For a long while, Amazon would let you share some of your Prime perks with four other people of any age — handy if your roommates need to get an order in a hurry. However, it looks like the internet shopping pioneer is clamping down. A quiet rule change on July 31st has limited Prime sharing to one other adult as part of an “Amazon Household.” Moreover, that other grown-up has to use the original member’s credit card. That’s fine if you’re sharing it with a significant other, but lousy for anyone else.
The good news? The changes don’t appear to be retroactive, so you should keep your sharing benefits as long as you don’t shake things up. With that said, it’s clear that Amazon wants to wring out as many extra Prime subscriptions as possible. That’s not entirely surprising — Amazon is still loading Prime with an ever-greater number of high-speed delivery and streaming media services, and the only real way to keep up the revenue per service is to get more subscribers.

Amazon lets anyone put Alexa voice control in their devices
Amazon released the Alexa Appkit last month in hopes that developers will create cool new features for the voice technology that powers the Echo. This time, the e-commerce giant is offering the Alexa Voice Service (AVS) itself as a developer preview, which both hobbyists and legit hardware manufacturers can integrate into their own connected devices. The best part is the company’s allowing the use of its technology for free. “By adding Alexa to your device, your users can request and receive information in the same way they would from an Amazon Echo,” the company’s Getting Started Guide reads. That means devices loaded with Alexa will also be able to answer questions about the weather and look up stuff or the traffic conditions online.
The devices’ users, according to Amazon, will be able to:
- Ask their device all kinds of questions, like math problems or facts about famous people, dates and places
- Stay informed on the news with Flash Briefing, a customizable news feed that includes podcasts and headlines from sources like ABC News, Good Morning America, Fox Sports and more…
- Play and buy music by artist, song, album or genre from Amazon Music
- Explore Prime Music, which provides unlimited, ad-free access to over a million songs, hundreds of playlists and personalized stations – free with Amazon Prime
- Enjoy podcasts, music and live radio from iHeartRadio
- Listen to audiobooks from Audible using their Audible or Kindle Unlimited subscription
- Add items to their To-Do and Shopping lists
- Get traffic updates for their daily commute
- Check the weather in their home town or in other locations around the world
- Access millions of Wikipedia articles
- Check appointments or weekend plans in Google Calendar
- Listen to jokes
- Play Simon Says
- Hunt for fun Easter Eggs, like “Alexa, I am your father”
- Set voice triggers for recipes created in If This Then That (IFTTT)
- Access new capabilities that you and other developers create using the Alexa Skills Kit
- Use the free Alexa companion app (available on Fire OS, Android, iOS and desktop browsers)
We doubt an Alexa-powered internet-connected gadget other than the Echo will pop up for sale soon, since this is just a developer preview and all, but we’ll keep an eye out for you all. To note, the voice assistant has been getting great reviews, and even our senior editor who reviewed the Echo ended up falling in love with her for her amazing capability to understand natural language.

ZTE Axon now available for purchase from multiple retailers

ZTE is right on time for the Axon’s August 1st expected release date. The phone has only been available for pre-order so far, but today it reaches a new stage as retailers across the internet begin offering it. You can now get yourself a brand new ZTE Axon straight from the manufacturer’s website, as well as Amazon, Newegg and eBay.
As expected, the phone costs $449.98, which is one hell of a price for what you will be getting from this unique smartphone. The ZTE Axon is very special in that it offers top-of-the-line specifications, but its price point undercuts all the big guys.

Packed inside the Axon you will find a 5.5-inch QHD display, a 2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, a 13 MP dual camera, an 8 MP front cam and a 3000 mAh battery. Those are specs worthy of awards, so don’t go thinking you will get anything less than a premium handset.
But the value doesn’t end there. ZTE has decided to give all Axon customers free accidental protection for 2 years. And if you happen to be an audiophile, the phone also supports HiFi audio support and comes packaged with a free set of JBL headphones. The phone really has it all, and only for a fraction of the price you would pay elsewhere.

We reviewed the ZTE Axon and gave it an 8.9/10 score. There were very few bad things to say about it. Our main gripes were the lack of storage options, no microSD support and the dual cameras (which still seem a bit gimmicky). You should be fine if you can live with 32 GB of internal storage, though!

Amazon Acoustics channels ‘MTV Unplugged’ for Prime Music
Exclusive content is all the rage these days when it comes to music streaming services, and Amazon has some new goods of its own. The retailer announced Amazon Acoustics today, a collection of unplugged performances from a variety of artists. As you might expect, the songs are only available for purchase from Amazon or streaming from Prime Music. And yes, Prime members get them at no additional charge. In terms of the artist lineup, there are originals and covers from JJ Grey, Train, Five For Fighting, Michelle Branch, Marc Roberge of O.A.R., Surfer Blood, Deer Tick and more for 32 total tracks.
Amazon Acoustics will offer folks who prefer the company’s music service an added benefit that subscribers are getting elsewhere. Spotify offers Spotify Sessions, for example, some of which are unplugged — like Miguel’s set. Of course, the likes of Tidal, Apple Music and others all have their own exclusives, looking to add a bit of extra value to the regular streaming libraries. Unplugged shows seemed to work out okay for MTV (most of which were released as full albums), so we’re curious to see what Amazon’s future releases offer.
