Amazon expands its Prime Same Day delivery service to more parts of the UK
Same day delivery is a service that is just beginning to catch on in the UK, with Argos’ Fast Track Delivery being the most widely available option, as opposed to Amazon’s Prime Same Day service which, up until now, has been limited to Greater London and select Berkshire and Hertfordshire areas. That is about to change, though, as Amazon has announced that its Same Day service is now available in a number of new locations in England and Scotland.
The following locations are now able to enjoy Prime Same Day deliveries:
- Birmingham
- Bristol
- Dudley
- Milton Keynes
- Northampton
- Walsall
- Wolverhampton
- Edinburgh
- Glasgow
More than 1 million products can be ordered using the Prime Same Day delivery service. Orders placed before noon are eligible to be delivered between 6pm and 10pm that day, seven days a week with no minimum spend, although naturally you need to be a Prime subscriber.

The service launched in Greater London and parts of Hertfordshire and Berkshire earlier this month is now available to residential addresses in Birmingham, Bristol, Dudley, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Walsall and Wolverhampton. Amazon will continue to expand Prime Same Day to other areas of the UK in 2016.
Prime members who place an order for same-day delivery by noon, on any day of the week, will receive their delivery between 6pm and 10pm on that same evening. There is no minimum order value and a wide range of items are available, from TVs to toasters, DVDs to books, and coffee makers to children’s toys.

Amazon brings one-hour Prime Now deliveries to Newcastle
Just a day after it expanded its same-day delivery service to more of the UK, Amazon has added another big city to its list of Prime Now locations: Newcastle. The Northern city joins London and Birmingham in offering Prime customers one-hour deliveries, allowing locals order up to 15,000 products including electronics, food and possible Christmas for £6.99 or for free if they’re willing to wait two hours. Amazon says selected postcodes in Gateshead, Durham and Sunderland are now eligible, but you should probably check Amazon’s delivery checker first before filling your online basket.

Amazon announces its Black Friday deals, which go live this week
Amazon has already kicked off its Black Friday deals early this year and has just announced a selection of upcoming offers that will run from November 20th. Discounts can be found on everything from electronics and video games, to fashion and kitchen appliances.
New Black Friday deals will be arrive “as often as every five minutes” and there are a number of Gold Box Deals of the Day to keep an eye on as well. Amazon’s pre-Black Friday deals will start November 20 and last for eight days, company says
Amazon has been advertising its early Black Friday deals for some time now, but the company has just announced an additional eight days of Black Friday deals that are set to start or November 20, this upcoming Friday. Keep in mind, these deals aren’t like Amazon’s prior deals–they’re actually looking very good so far.
Starting on November 20, Amazon will be adding new deals every five minutes for the eight days this sale will go on for. However, this promotion will go beyond Black Friday, with Amazon planning on putting a big focus on mobile shopping. The online retailer plans on offering exclusive discounts through the Amazon app, which are set to start on Thanksgiving day and run through December 8. Amazon shines a spotlight on startup products in the UK
After going live in the US this summer, Amazon has today brought its Launchpad program to the UK. Appearing sans fanfare on the UK portal, Launchpad is a dedicated storefront specifically showcasing the products of early stage companies. That said, the initial catalogue features some relatively well-known brands, such as Sphero, Withings, Pebble, Elgato, Misfit and new smartphone player Wileyfox, though it’s not limited to products in the technology realm. The idea behind Launchpad is that startups can use the program — and Amazon’s delivery expertise — to get their products to customers without having to become logistics experts themselves.

Amazon is discounting Prime to £59 in the UK for a limited time
Amazon Prime is about to become even more enticing for UK customers. Through November 18, Brits can sign up for the service for £59, a £20 discount over the regular price.
For $99 in the US and £79 in the UK, Amazon Prime offers a slews of benefits, including free one-day (or even same-day) delivery for millions of products, access to a collection of movies and over one millions songs, one free e-book per month, and unlimited photo storage on Amazon Drive. If you’re a frequent Amazon shopper, the cost of quick shipping alone could make Prime worthwhile, with everything else counting as a very nice bonus.
Another enticing feature of Amazon Prime is early access to certain deals. Prime subscribers can access the short-lived Lighting deals 30-minutes earlier than regular shoppers. Given that Lighting deals typically offer the best discounts, having Prime can definitely facilitate, if not guarantee, a bargain.
The deal on Amazon Prime is valid through November 18, at 23:59. Only new Prime customers can take advantage of the promotion, and after the first year, the regular price of £79 will come into effect.
Amazon is obviously trying to lure customers into its walled garden ahead of Black Friday, the shopping event that started in America and took over UK and the rest of the world in recent years. For this year, the retailer is promising more than 7,000 deals in the UK, in hopes of beating the record from last year, when it sold 5.5 million items on Black Friday.
If you’re wondering how early you have to wake up to get on the Black Friday bandwagon, Amazon has a helpful pointer: last year, peak shopping was recorded at 8:29am. The question is, which is more important – deals or sleep?
Amazon has offered a similar discount on its premium service in the US back in June, when a year of Prime could be had for $72. We’ll have to see whether the UK deal will make its way across the pond in time for Black Friday, but don’t hold your breath.
