Amazon Prime will reportedly offer access to other video services
Normally, signing up for a streaming video service only gives you the content from that service, leaving you heading elsewhere when a TV network decides to hoard all its shows. If rumors are true, though, Amazon Prime Video may soon offer a lot more in one place. Bloomberg sources hear that Amazon will give you the option to add other subscription services to your account, and show their video libraries alongside its own. Just who’s interested isn’t clear, but Amazon is reportedly lining up “major, well-known” movie and TV channels for a launch that could happen as early as December.

Sony Xperia M4 Aqua price cut to $200 at Amazon US
Sony’s mid-range Xperia M4 Aqua was probably a little overpriced when compared to similar devices from low cost manufacturers, but this situation should now be remedied, as the company has just announced a new price cut for the handset in the US.

The old $300 price tag has been thrown out in favour of a $200 listing, which works out to a pretty substantial 33 percent saving. However, this discount appears to be an Amazon US exclusive and also only applies to the 16GB model for the US market. The international version is now more expensive at $230 and other retailers are still selling the US version for the regular $300-$349 price.
Although some may find it a little frustrating to be restricted to one retailer, Sony used Amazon’s retail channel to launch the Xperia M4 Aqua in the US back in June. I imagine that other sellers will eventually have to drop their prices to match Sony’s offer.

We have to say that at $300+, the Xperia M4 Aqua probably had too many compromises to justify the cost, but the lower price tag certainly makes the handset more appealing. Check out our full review if you would like to know more. As an added bonus, the smartphone also made it onto Sony’s recent list of handsets that would eventually be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, although we don’t have an exact release schedule yet.
Bring your music with you with the LuguLake Blade Bluetooth speaker (Review)
LuguLake is a name brand that you probably haven’t heard of. I certainly had not until I got the change to offer the LuguLake Swan and Blade Bluetooth wireless speakers. I definitely had no expectations going into both reviews, but I learned that you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars to get high quality sound.
LuguLake Blade Design
I love brilliance in simplicity. The LuguLake Blade is a portable speaker that is about the size of a five inch smartphone, just twice as thick and similar in weight. It is a rectangular device, covered in a soft rubbery plastic with dual front facing speakers with a red mesh grill. The Blade is unassuming and looks fantastic.
On the side is a power switch, three LED light indicator for power, and a covered port for a micro-SD card, 3.5mm input and charging slot. On the top side of the speaker is where you’ll find the controls: play/pause, Bluetooth connect, rewind, fast forward, volume up/down and answer/hang up for a call.
Included in the box is a 3.5mm male to male cable and a micro-USB charging cable.
LuguLake Blade Usage
For a device this small I definitely not expecting much when it came to sound. But I was pleasantly surprised to hear how much sound and loudness could come from such a small package. The old adage of “don’t judge a book by its cover” definitely came into play here as the Blade pumped out sound as loud as speakers three times its size.
The only downside when it came to sound, keep in mind this isn’t a speaker for an audiophile, was that it lacked depth in the bass category. To produce decent bass a speaker needs size and room to move air, which being so small, is something that is technically very difficult to do for a speaker of this size. So if you’re a huge fan of bass, don’t expect the Blade to knock your shoes off. In terms of mids and highs, the Blade delivered very clear sound reproduction.
Because of its smaller size and portability, I found myself taking it with me to the dog park and playing music for a few of my friends who I meet on a regular basis. They were just as surprised to hear how loud the Blade got, and had asked me where they could buy one once I told them the price was less than $50.
One of my favorite features is the ability to connect to the speaker via a tap using NFC. My Nexus 6P connected within a matter of seconds once I tapped my phone to the backside of the speaker.
I also brought this speaker with me on a recent overnight business trip, because I listen to music every night before bed. And I hate listening to music on my smartphone speakers because it never sounds good. It’s really nice to be able to pack a speaker so light and small that it doesn’t take up much space in my carry-on bag. In fact I thought I forgot it at home because it was hidden at the bottom of the front pocket of my carry-on bag.
On the overnight trip, I took two work calls from the speaker and if you sit within arm’s length, it performs very well. Once I strayed from that distance the person on the other end of the call had a hard time hearing me. This isn’t uncommon with most Bluetooth speakers.
At 75% volume I was frequently achieving four to five hours of use before I had to recharge it.
The LuguLake Blade is definitely one of the more practical wireless speakers you can get today with its affordable price, portability and sound quality.

Amazon Video gets a bunch of new features on iOS

Amazon has released a ton of new features for its Video app. The update includes 3D touch support, Next Up (which is basically auto-play), picture-in-picture and X-Ray, which offers a wealth of IMDB information and trivia at the touch of a button. Even though some of these features are iPad exclusive (like picture-in-picture) they can help Amazon stand up against competition like Netflix when content alone won’t carry the day. The 3D touch option is only available on Apple’s latest smartphone offerings, the 6s and 6s Plus, and lets you access a number of features faster, but offers nothing in the way of exclusive functionality. Also, the app has been customized for the iPad Pro, meaning Amazon-exclusive content is bigger and better than it’s ever been before. What more could you ask for?

International variant of the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is now up for purchase in the U.S. on Amazon
Consumers in the United States can now get their hands on an international variant of Sony’s latest Xperia Z5 Premium.
For the first time, consumers in the United States can purchase the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium thanks to Amazon. However, just remember that since it’s an international variant it fails to include a valid U.S. warranty. If this isn’t enough to stop you, make sure the device has the proper bands for your carrier prior to buying. The handset should work on all GSM carriers such as T-Mobile, AT&T and others.
Consumers can purchase either the dual-SIM model or the single-SIM variant from Amazon. Depending on the model and choice of color, the price will vary. But either way you go, it’ll cost you a pretty penny.

Amazon resets passwords that might have been ‘exposed’
Did you recently get a notice that Amazon changed your password? You’re not alone. Numerous readers tell ZDNet that Amazon reset their passwords after learning that the login might have been “improperly stored” or “transmitted” in a way that could expose it to others. The company is shy about what happened (is it a data breach? A security hole?), but doesn’t believe that someone actually swiped your info — it’s just giving you a new password out of an “abundance of caution.” Gee, thanks. We’re glad to see Amazon taking a better-safe-than-sorry approach, but we’ve reached out to the internet giant to get a better sense of what happened… and whether or not you have reason to be nervous.

Amazon starts streaming Prime music and videos on JetBlue
Back in May, Amazon said it would bring Prime Music and Instant Video to select JetBlue flights. Fast forward to today, over six months since the original announcement, and the retailer is finally turning this feature on for Amazon Prime customers. If you’re a subscriber who’s flying in one of JetBlue’s Fly-Fi-ready planes, you can stream tunes, movies and TV shows at no extra cost thanks to the airline’s newly developed internet service. The experience itself is built into the Fly-Fi hub, letting you easily access your Prime media library on laptops, iOS and Android smartphones or tablets and, naturally, Amazon’s Fire devices. Amazon says this is already working on most of JetBlue’s Fly-Fi fleet, with the full rollout expected to be completed by November 26th.

CBS’ streaming video service comes to Amazon’s Fire TV
Your Fire TV (or Fire TV Stick) just became much more useful as a cord-cutting device… at least, if you watch a lot of CBS shows. The TV network has launched an Amazon-native app for its All Access service, giving your Fire TV the same mix of live and on-demand viewing that CBS is offering on rival set-top boxes. You’re still paying $6 per month and don’t get any hardware-specific features, but look at it this way: you’ll definitely be ready when the new Star Trek series begins streaming in a couple of years.
