Amazon’s new Fire TV can talk to your connected home
Amazon’s Echo speaker and 4K Fire TV just got much better at handling around-the-house tasks. The Fire TV now controls smart home devices with a simple voice command — you can ask it to dim the lights right before you start a movie. It’ll search for local businesses and restaurants, too, in case you want to get some sushi when you’re done watching. The Echo already has these features, but you can now ask it when a TV show starts to make sure you catch that big season premiere. Both the Echo and Fire TV upgrades are relatively straightforward, but they’ll mean a lot if you’re tired of bringing out your phone to ask simple questions.

Amazon Prime Video Coming to New Apple TV Possibly Within a ‘Few Weeks’
Last month, Amazon removed all Apple TV and Chromecast product listings from its website because the devices do not offer its Prime Video streaming service, which the online retailer said may cause confusion for customers. Nearly a month later, the new Apple TV remains unavailable on Amazon, but that could soon change.

Amazon appears to have confirmed to engineer Dan Bostonweeks that it is developing a tvOS app for Prime Video that could launch before the end of 2015. “Hopefully, within a few weeks span, you will be able to see the Amazon Instant Video app feature on your Apple TV,” the company purportedly said in an email.

http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsApple was wrongly criticized by some in October for seemingly not allowing Prime Video on the new Apple TV, but shortly after the company provided a statement to BuzzFeed News emphasizing that “all are welcome” on the platform — Amazon simply had not submitted a Prime Video app for the tvOS App Store.
Apple tells BuzzFeed News that “all are welcome” on its new Apple TV platform. But Amazon — which recently purged Apple TV from its store — doesn’t have a Prime Video app in the Apple TV App Store. And as of a few days ago, it hadn’t submitted one.
Amazon told BuzzFeed News it “doesn’t have anything to share” on the topic at the time, but it now appears the company is actively developing a tvOS solution. Amazon Video allows Prime members to instantly stream tens of thousands of movies and TV episodes, with hundreds of thousands of titles available to buy or rent.
Amazon Video for iOS is free on the App Store and accessible by Amazon Prime members. The service is also available on Android, Fire OS, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii, Wii U, the web and select TV and Blu-ray players from LG, Panasonic, Samsung, Sony and Vizio.

Get one year of unlimited cloud storage from Amazon for just $5
Amazon has a lucrative offering on unlimited cloud storage, which is a part of their Black Friday deals. For just $5, you get one year of unlimited cloud storage, which includes photos, videos, and documents. That’s not all, if you wish to store media content only, the price drops to $1 for one year.
Many users of Microsoft OneDrive might find this deal very attractive. This is because Microsoft was providing unlimited cloud storage to Office 365 users, which it recently downgraded to 1 TB. Meanwhile, the free tier gives you only 5 GB of storage before you’re asked to upgrade. Google Drive allows users to store 15 GB of files before slapping a price tag.

The explanation given by Microsoft for removing its unlimited storage perk was that a few users were taking advantage of the unlimited storage perk to upload entire movie collections, among other things, thereby using nearly 14,000 times the amount of space consumed by an average user.
- Grab 1 year of unlimited Amazon cloud storage for $5 (from $55)
Coming back to Amazon’s amazing $5 deal, the regular price of their unlimited storage tier is $54.99. A solid $50 in savings, thanks to this Black Friday deal. Talking about the $1 deal, apart from unlimited photos and videos, users can also store up to 15 GB of documents under the plan.
Amazon’s exciting offers on cloud storage are bound to expire soon, so we suggest that you grab them while they are hot.

[Deal] Amazon slashes the price of its Fire Tablet, Fire TV Stick, Echo and other devices in Black Friday promotion
Black Friday craziness has descended upon us, with everyone and his dog discounting all the items under the sun trying to entice your hard-earned cash out of your wallet, or purse for that matter. Amazon is one of the biggest culprits, cutting prices on its Kindle and Fire hardware in the UK and the US, some of which were already cheap to start with.
Let’s deal with the UK first, and here Amazon has slashed the price of a couple of its tablets and the Fire TV Stick for today only.

- £69.99 – Fire Kids Edition Tablet (Was £99.99)
- £24.99 – Fire TV Stick (Was £34.99)
While the Fire Kids Edition is reduced by a third, the Fire Tablet and Fire TV Stick look to be the better options for filling stockings. And unlike most stocking fillers, these will actually be appreciated, and most importantly, they will actually be used instead of being slung in a drawer somewhere until it’s time to re-gift them.
In the US, the home of Black Friday deals, Amazon has seemingly gone all out, cutting the prices of most, if not all of its devices ranging from Kindles to a variety of tablets and the Amazon Echo.
- $34.99 – Fire Tablet (Was $49.99) Ends Nov 29
- $24.99 – Fire TV Stick (Was $39.99) Ends Nov 29
- $34.99 – Fire TV Stick with Voice Remote (Was $49.99) Ends Nov 29

The hottest deal of the day that just went live on Amazon is for the Google Nexus 6. Last year’s Nexus smartphone is still a great option for anyone looking to stay up to date with the Android ecosystem. Featuring an expansive Quad HD AMOLED screen, a powerful processor, and premium build quality, the Nexus 6 is a great device, especially now that you can get it for a fraction of the price of its successor, the Nexus 6P.
Amazon is discounting all versions of the Nexus 6 by a healthy margin. Here’s the breakdown:
- Motorola Nexus 6, 32GB, Midnight Blue (U.S. Warranty) for $199.99 (down from $350)

If you’re looking for something smaller, or perhaps just flashier, Amazon also has the excellent Samsung Galaxy S6 (32GB) down to just $400. This is the US version of Samsung’s flagship, normally selling for $599 on Amazon, so you’re looking at a 33% discount. Not bad at all, for a device that delivers a beautiful display, the best processor of 2015 and a fantastic camera into a sleek design.
- Samsung Galaxy S6 Factory Unlocked 32GB Smartphone (U.S. Version) for $399 (down from $600)
These are both “deals of the day,” but with so many people out prowling for a bargain, there’s no telling for how long stocks will last. Better hurry.
In other deals, Amazon is also discounting the well reviewed UE BOOM Wireless Bluetooth Speaker in all colors down to $99.99. This 360 degree wireless speaker has a great 4.6 stars score across thousands of reviews. It features a solid build and water and stain resistance, and drops a rich bass and a high volume.

You get an Intel i3 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of SSD storage space, and Intel HD Graphics 4400, with a battery life of 8.5 hours. That may not sound like much, but Google’s Chrome OS runs smoothly on this hardware, making it perfect as a second laptop.
