LG Watch Urbane LTE gets pulled globally, refunds underway
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
The LG Watch Urbane 2nd edition was a huge roll-out device for LG. I believe it was bundled in with a price cut for AT&T customers who purchased the LG V10, but I might be wrong. The latest watch from LG was to bring in LTE support with a separate SIM card that gives you connection for notifications, directions, calls and more without needing your phone with you too. Now customers are being notified that a ‘quality issue’ has put a stop to the devices roll-out and refunds for those that already purchased one are starting to be issued.
LG has acknowledged the issue, but aren’t stepping up to say what it is exactly. According to sources though, the quality issue directly relates to the watches day-to-day use of the watch. LG is now cancelling the rolling out of the 2nd gen watch on a global scale. From the sounds of it, they aren’t sure if they will even resume roll-outs or shipments of the watch at all in the future. Read a blurb from LG that was sent over to AndroidPolice yesterday.
We understand that you are currently reviewing our latest smartwatch; however, late in the quality assurance process for the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE, our engineers were made aware of a hardware issue which affects the day-to-day functionality of the device. After further investigation, the decision was made to cancel the rollout of the Urbane 2nd Edition LTE due to the complicated nature of the issue.
Whether the device will be available in the future will be decided at a later time. For now, our top priority is to ensure that only products that meet our very specific quality standards are available for purchase.
Those of you that got the watch are now in an interesting elitist group of users. Any of you guys out there experiencing any major issues that might be of concern?

Details emerge on accessories for the upcoming Galaxy S7 and S7 edge
We are smack in the middle of November, and already there are numerous dates being bandied about guessing when Samsung will announce the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge handsets, with February being favoured as the most likely. The speculation was fuelled further by the news that Samsung had begun developing firmware for the two handsets, and with the alleged rumour that AT&T is already testing the S7. While details about the actual handsets are a little sketchy, today’s leak brings us some news about the accessories for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.
According to SamMobile, Samsung will launch four different covers for the upcoming Galaxy S7 handsets, consisting of the following:
- Glitter Cover
- S View Cover
- Clear Cover
- Keyboard Cover
It’s difficult to imagine the Keyboard Cover working well on a 5.1-inch display, so either the S7 will be sporting a slighter larger screen or Samsung has reworked the Keyboard Cover to be less conspicuous.

OnePlus responds to allegations that its USB Type-C accessories are out of spec
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
A few days ago, an investigation by Google engineer Benson Leung found that OnePlus‘ USB Type-C accessories might be out of step with the standard. OnePlus has now responded to the claims, saying that its accessories – its cable and adapter – are compliant with USB 2.0 and Type-C 1.0 standards, curiously omitting the 1.1 standard for USB Type-C which is arguably the more important one. With USB Type-C 1.1, a connected device can be charged with up to 3A – this is what the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are designed to do. However, if you use anything lower than 1.1, you risk damage to your device – as Leung explains it:
“Having a weaker than 3A charger is actually a risk factor because the device being charged will always try to charge at 3 and if the older adapter can’t handle 3A, that is when it might be damaged.”
OnePlus confirms that its own cables are right for the OnePlus 2 to be charged and transfer data, but it’s clear the cables shouldn’t be used for more recent devices like the new Nexuses where damage is possible. Looks like we’re going to have to wait a little bit longer before USB Type-C is truly a mainstream standard.
What do you think about OnePlus’ response to Benson Leung’s findings? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Googler finds that the OnePlus USB Type-C adapter is out of spec
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
USB Type-C is all the rage right now, but as it’s a new standard of hardware, there are bound to be some teething issues for manufacturers. To uncover non-compliant cables and adapters before they potentially damage your device, Googler Benson Leung a.k.a. the USB Vigilante, has been testing every accessory available under the sun and advising whether you’ll want to risk it with your device or not. As it turns out, he has found that the OnePlus USB Type-C adapter is out of spec – as Leung puts it: “it uses the wrong identifier resistor”, which can potentially damage your device while charging.
OnePlus has yet to respond to Leung’s findings, but while it’s understandable that being one of the first to adopt the new standard you might make some mistakes, it’s kind of disappointing that a manufacturer who’s own device uses USB Type-C might potentially have damaged their own devices. Regardless, if you’re looking for a cheap USB Type-C adapter for your Chromebook Pixel or new Nexus 5X/6P, the OnePlus USB Type-C adapter probably isn’t the way to go for you.

Logitech’s iPad Pro keyboard case is relatively affordable
Apple’s iPad Pro is pricey even before you add in the $169 official keyboard case, but Logitech may have a way to make the whole package a little more palatable. It’s now shipping its promised Create Keyboard Case for the gigantic tablet, and the add-on will sell for a slightly more frugal $150. It only works at two angles, but you’ll get perks like backlit keys, automatic pairing (thanks to the Smart Connector) and a raft of iOS shortcuts. And if you don’t want to turn your iPad into a makeshift laptop, there’s an $80 Create Protective case that ditches the keyboard in return for a more flexible stand. Either shell is available in black, blue or red, so you’re not stuck with somber colors on your giant slate. Slideshow-340125
