Your ‘Fallout 4’ PC mods will work fine on the Xbox One, too

Take a quick tour of YouTube and it’ll become clear that PC gamers get to have more utterly ridiculous fun since their games are so easier to mod. Wanna fire cars out of a gun? Simple. How about turning Skyrim’s dragons into monstrous, angry former wrestlers? You get we’re going with this (and that video is definitely worth a watch). Anyway, Bethesda is working on bridging that cross-platform insanity gap with the upcoming release of Fallout 4 – director Todd Howard just confirmed that mods made for the PC version of the game can be “transferred, played and shared for free” on the Xbox One.

In fairness, the game doesn’t hit shelves – either physical ones or those pesky, metaphorical digital ones – until November 10, but it’s a welcome change that Howard apparently spent ages lobbying for. It’s really no wonder why. Mods have this wonderful tendency to build on existing experiences and turn games that would’ve otherwise been forgotten when the next AAA game rolled out into thoughtful, ludicrous worlds that can keep people coming back months and years after purchase. (Hell, your humble author still mucks around in Just Cause 2 because the lure of flying around a faux-South Pacific island and nuking despotic statues can only be resisted for so long). The quick tour we got of the new Fallout world seems plenty meaty enough to savor even without mods, so let’s hope those creators cook up some seriously peculiar stuff to bake into our favorite post-apocalyptic wastelands.

‘Forza 6’ arrives September 15th, hails the return of the Ford GT

If fast cars are what you’re after when it comes to gaming, Forza 6 will pack in plenty of that. The next installment in the series arrives September 15th on Xbox One. When the garage door opens, the game will offer the new Ford GT as a vehicle option before it makes its return to Le Mans in 2016. Heck, Microsoft and Ford even lowered one from the ceiling at the Xbox press event to celebrate. Turn 10, the studio behind Forza, says this release is “the most beautiful, technically advanced” game its ever built. You can bet we’ll be looking to put that claim and the game’s 24-car multi-player option to the test at the end of the summer.

‘Dark Souls III’ is coming in early 2016

'Dark Souls III' at E3 2015

What, did you think From Software would take a break from releasing its punishing Souls games just because Bloodborne is out the door? Just the opposite. The studio has just teased Dark Souls III, the next title in its dark fantasy action series. There’s not much to know beyond its early 2016 release date, but From’s signature bleak landscapes are intact. There’s also what looks to be a lava giant in the brief preview clip, so there will very likely be some epic battles ahead. And while it’s safe to presume that DS3 will reach the Xbox One given its appearance at Microsoft’s E3 event, it’s not an exclusive — the odds are that it’s headed to the PlayStation 4 as well.

Alternate iOS 9 keyboard hints at larger iPad

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Whenever someone talks about the 12.9-inch iPad, we pull the same nervous, hopeful gaze that we do when Half-life 2: Episode Three is mentioned. Deep down, we know in our hearts that neither are very likely to happen, but no matter what, they’ll never be able to take the hope from us. Now, iOS expert and friend of the site Steve Troughton-Smith believes he’s found a nugget of proof that the iPad “Pro” exists. Oh, put your tongues in your cheek and grab a handful of salt, because we’re venturing into tangent territory, here.

While digging deep into the details of iOS 9 preview, the developer has found a new larger on-screen keyboard. One that’s sufficiently big to scale beyond the 9.7-inches you’ll find on Apple’s full-size tablet, at the very least. The biggest tweak is to add a new row of symbols above the keycaps, as well as the inclusion of tab and caps lock keys on the left hand side. As 9to5Mac points out, the overall effect is to reduce the number of different screens you need to switch through for characters from three to two, since all of the symbols now fit in the second pane. Now, as we probably need to remind you, this is a tiny piece of software from a preview build and doesn’t guarantee anything — but we can’t stop you from lighting a candle in the tallest tower of your heart.

Microsoft reveals a slew of Xbox One indie games at E3

Microsoft’s massive E3 press conference wasn’t just about big-budget shooters — the company also took some time to highlight the many smaller titles coming from indie developers. The highlights include Tacoma, the next game from Gone Home studio Fullbright, which is about a woman who finds herself stranded on a space station; Ashen, a stylized puzzle adventure game that seems to have the scale of Shadow of the Colossus; and Beyond Eyes, a painterly-looking game about a young girl exploring the outdoors. We also got a quick look at several other titles in a promo video, which you can check out below.

‘Rise of the Tomb Raider’ hits Xbox One this November

Sorry, Sony, but the next installment in Lara Croft’s tomb raiding adventures is slated to hit Xbox One as an exclusive on November 10th. As Microsoft’s Xbox head Phil Spencer announced at Gamescom last summer, the upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider will be a platform exclusive, meaning gamers that don’t own an Xbox One will be locked out of the party.

Android Lollipop 5.1.1 for Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge is now official

The popular smartphone duo of this year has finally been receiving the Android Lollipop 5.1.1 OTA. Just as we reported earlier that Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge will start receiving Android Lollipop 5.1 in June. The update is currently being rolling out to T-Mobile’s users in US. The update brings along some performance improvements and couple of new features.

The update brings along simplified exposure in the camera, wallpaper parallax effect and several minor tweaks. The Guest Mode is also included in the update, which as the name suggests allows you to switch over Guest profile preventing your personal data. This feature is handy if you are handing your device to someone else. The update also includes numerous UI changes, like the option to remove the S-finder and Quick connect buttons from the notifications shade.

Although, Google’s Lollipop 5.1.1 update has been around for a while now, but the manufacturers are adopting it very slow. The “Memory leak”  issue that were present in the Android 5.0 claims to be fixed by Google in Android 5.1. The latest build also fixed the heads-up notification issue. Now you can just swipe up on the heads-up rather than dismissing it by swiping it to right, this way the notification will remain in your notification panel.

Razer officially acquires Android game console startup OUYA

ouya_gaming_console_limited_edition_brown_brushed_metal

It’s official, folks. Razer has acquired Ouya, the Kickstarter-funded Android console startup. It’s an interesting move from the gaming accessory maker, considering that they’re venturing out into the mobile world with things like the Forge TV, Razer Comms, and etc.

We earlier heard rumors that Ouya was looking for a buyer, and that Razer was working on creating a deal to absorb the company’s technology and staff. Investment bank Mesa Global today announced that the deal is done and Razer is now the official owner of Ouya. Mesa Global provided no details, and any note of the transaction seems to have been pulled from its website.

Razer’s Forge TV has thus far received negative feedback, but with the acquisition of Ouya, Razer might be able to give its Forge TV the boost it needs in order to compete with NVIDIA’s high-end offering, the Shield Android TV box.

Then again, maybe Razer should stick with what it knows best: PC gaming.
