Ever written a nasty email to someone and hit the send button to only regret doing it in that split millisecond after you realize it sent? Maybe you have a bad habit of shooting over an email with the wrong attachment, or no attachment at all. I have done it more than once, usually on the work email through Microsoft, which is serious pain in my ass. Google is now out to save your bacon with a feature in Gmail that has finally made its way out of the “Labs” section with “Undo Send” ability.
Enabling the function is pretty straight forward. First, head to the small cog in the upper right hand corner, select Settings, then scroll partway down to where you see the “Enable Undo Send” option. Simply place a check mark in the box and you are set. You can also give yourself a little more leeway in terms of time to pull the email back with time limit settings of 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds. 30 seconds is about right to re-nig on an email. However, I would really like the ability to be open-ended if it hasn’t been read yet. Beggars can’t be choosers though.
The function isn’t available on mobile yet, so stick to the desktop for your potentially important redaction letters. However, if you are a user of the Inbox by Gmail sub-set of users, you do have this handy ability. As a side note, those of you that live dangerously and already had it turned on in Labs, won’t need to do anything as Google left it enabled for you guys.

T-Mobile getting all “Amped” up with another Un-Carrier event on Thursday June 25th

The bad boy of wireless, John Legere, is gearing up for another Un-Carrier event scheduled for this Thursday. As the title, and image, would suggest it is all about getting Amped! The accompanying teaser video to the announcement is extremely theatrical. Has a feel of San Adreas, Jurassic World and a major concert. I’m talking the big 4 (Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth and Slayer) style concert. Maybe it was just the music segment in the video that got me to wishing for a chance at that concert again. Here, check it out for yourself.
As you saw, the trailer covers all the previous T-Mobile Un-Carrier announcements from Simple Choice in 1.0, to Music Freedom in 6.0 to the more recent Un-Carrier for Business in 9.0. T-Mobile’s Un-Carrier 10.0 looks to make the previous 9 moves bigger, bolder and more incredible by expanding on them even more. I really have no idea what they could do to make things even bigger and better, but I am sure John will be happy to toss out a few profanities, get into a little bit of trouble and piss off the rest of the networks a little more. Stay tuned for details on Thursday.

John Legere — CEO or superhero?
Did T-Mobile know that they would be getting a superhero when they hired John Legere three years ago? I’m not so sure they did. The T-Mobile CEO starred in a video to shed some light on the upcoming 600MHz wireless spectrum auction and the government can prevent a duopoly from forming.
Next year, carriers are going to open their wallets to try and win the low-frequency spectrum from the FCC. Verizon and AT&T, unsurprisingly, have the deepest pockets and that means they will presumably walk away as the winners. All T-Mobile wants is for the FCC to reserve half of the low-frequency spectrum for smaller carriers to gain access. The rules, which the two aforementioned giants are lobbying to remain unchanged, will be voted on by the FCC on July 16.
The video below officially launches T-Mobile’s new #DefeatDuopoly campaign. John Legere plays the superhero while Verizon and AT&T are the villainous members of the Duopoly.

Will John Legere save the nation’s wireless industry? We will find out next month.

Ily is a smart home phone to stay connected with your family

We have a plethora of smart devices all over the house, all of which can do a million things. You can use smartphones and tablets to call people, check social networks, read the news, watch your movies and much more, but sometimes all this clutter can keep you away from what really matters. This is why New York-based startup Insensi created the Ily, a communication device that makes sure you can stay connected with your family; and it does so very well.
This is not really a smartphone, tablet or even a wireless device. It’s meant to stay at your home, always powered and available whenever you need it. I like to call it a smart home phone, because it pretty much replaces your traditional phone with a system that is worthy of this technologically advanced age.

Ily can work as your regular landline service, or you can connect it to your smartphone via Bluetooth so it may act as a headset of sorts. You can communicate via the integrated speakers and microphone, or you can simply pick up the wireless handset and talk your way around the house. But the real fun begins when you start using the internet-based features.
The camera can be used for online voice, text and video calls with other family members (or friends) using Ily. This gadget has an 8-inch 1024x768p touchscreen that will display icons with images of your family members and friends (these need to be approved by parents). Any user can then easily tap on these faces and tell Ily what method of communication is best at the moment.

/* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
People are often on the go, though, which is why Ily does offer a completely free Android (and iOS) app so users can reach family members when they are not within reach of an Ily phone.
Now, just because this is mostly a communication device, it doesn’t mean Insensi didn’t add some cool secondary features. You can draw for each other, share images and even access apps like Spotify so that you may set the mood with some good tunes.

This is all free, unless you want to rent a local phone number, purchase minutes and set up a voicemail. The company mentions you don’t need to pay for these, but those who need it can get it for a “small fee”. Otherwise, the only cash you will need to fork out is to buy the actual equipment.
You can buy the Ily for $199 if you pre-order it right now, but that price will raise to $299 once the device launches, this Fall. It’s also possible to get multiple device bundles for a discount. Insensi sells 2 for $189 each, or 3 for $185 each.

This is an interesting concept, to say the least. I can see how it could be beneficial to some families, especially because it gets rid of all the confusion involved with using an actual smart device. Also, not everyone wants to give their kids expensive tablets or smartphones, which also happen to be unsafe (the internet is a wild place).
How many of you would spend this much money on an Ily (or multiple)? Will something like this help your family better stay in touch? There’s definitely a demand for it, as the company claims to have raised $2.4 million so far. That sure is no easy feat.
Deal: Moto Hint $50 off until June 30th

The Moto Hint is one awesome accessory, but its $149.99 price point makes it hard for some to justify purchasing it. This is why we have seen it used as more of an incentive to push customers into buying other more enticing Motorola products. The latest deal offered a free Moto Hint to all Moto X customers, for example. Today Motorola takes a hint and slashes the price of this Bluetooth headset down by 33%!
The Moto hint is now only $99.99, but you have to hurry because this offer is only available for a limited time. Motorola will put it back to its regular price on June 30th at 11 AM CT. This applies to all versions, so you can get those cool designs like walnut, bamboo, fabric and leather.

We do know $100 is still a bit pricey, but you must keep in mind this is no regular Bluetooth headset, as we stressed in our Moto Hint announcement post. The Moto Hint is more of a voice-activated smart headset.
This tiny gadget comes with an integrated digital assistant you can simply talk to in order to perform a plethora of tasks. Some of these actions include calling people, sending messages, posting updates to Facebook, setting reminders and even getting answers for random questions. See the video below to get some examples of what the Moto hint can do.
The Moto Hint allows you to do a lot of things without lifting a finger. These are usually tasks for which you would have to pull out your phone and stare at it for a minute. It’s pretty cool, if you ask us. It may be a good purchase for those of you already looking to spend good money on a quality Bluetooth headset.
Are any of you buying? And if you have it, how much do you use it?

Project Fi “Invite Status” lets you know when to expect your invite
Google’s new Project Fi MVNO was launched back in April. Since then, people have uncovered many little factoids about Project Fi including that it was invite only. That’s right, the invite horrors started again. Inbox by Gmail, the OnePlus One, and now Project Fi.
Many people signed up for Fi back when the invite system was launched in April, but they have yet to receive an invite. Fortunately, Google has updated Project Fi’s sign up site to put potential customers at ease.
The site has been updated to include an “Invite Status” that will let you know when you can expect your invite to the network. Statuses have been all over the place.
Some lucky ducks found out that their invite would arrive in their inbox in 2-3 weeks. Others found disturbing news that Google was still determining their status.
The invite status do not appear to correlate directly to when you placed your request. In an effort to make sure that Fi is ready for prime time, Google has been selecting various people from different regions.
If you are in a region where there is already a Fi user, you may be in for a long wait. On the flip side, if you are the first to request an invite in your area, you may get yours sooner rather than later.

Meerkat reminds users that it has a points system
Did you know Meerkat has a points system? Yup, it’s been around since launch, and there’s even a Leaderboard that shows streamers with the highest scores, similar to the ones you see in games. Since it was pretty easy to miss unless you went live at least once — or if you quickly jumped ship to Twitter-owned rival Periscope — Meerkat has decided to make its score system available to all its users. Now, it’s not just streamers who can earn points: viewers can, as well, by participating (commenting, Liking, retweeting, et cetera) in live broadcasts. The announcement’s wording also makes it sound like the team is retroactively awarding points for previous interactions. Will this entice old users to ditch Periscope and come back to Meerkat? Probably not. But it’s a fun little feature for people who decided to stick around.

ustwo’s ‘Monument Valley’ to see free DLC this week
Monument Valley launched in 2014 and barely anyone expected the game to be so popular. Shortly after its launch, the game quickly achieved success both critically and commercially. It was enough for developer ustwo to invest in downloadable content following its initial release. Last year, Monument Valley players saw Ida’s Dream arrive as a level pack to benefit Product Red, a division of the ONE Campaign, and its fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa. The only problem with Ida’s Dream, covered in red for the charity, was that ustwo never made it available for anyone outside of iOS.
That changes this week.
On June 25, ustwo will release Ida’s Dream at no cost for everyone. The exclusive red-colored theme will be absent, though, and remain with those who purchased the level pack initially. Neil McFarland, ustwo’s Director of Games, told TechCrunch that people from any mobile platform should be able to experience what Monument Valley and Ida’s Dream have to offer:
“This is content that people haven’t been able to get, or just missed out on, and it’s really good that we’re completing it now for hte majority of players. Now everyone is going to hvae access to the entire chapter library of the game which we’re really excited about.”
The game, upon Ida’s Dream reaching everyone on Thursday, will likely be finished when it comes to receiving any additional downloadable content. McFarland says that the studio is looking at new games and experiences. Among them is Land’s End, a title coming later this year that takes advantage of virtual reality’s immersive environments. It is seemingly the right time for ustwo to make its next move because Monument Valley has enjoyed millions of downloads translating to around $10 million in revenue.

US Cellular second to the gates with Android 5.1.1 update for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

T-Mobile started the push to Android 5.1.1 on the flagship Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge just a week ago. Now US Cellular is giving their customers the same special treatment. As with most Samsung device updates, this one can be had by heading to Settings > System > About Device > Software Update. If a hardwired option suits your style more, you can also install via Samsung Kies. If you are sporting a Galaxy S6 you will be on the look out for software version G920R4TYU2BOF7 and G925R4TYU2BOF7 for the Galaxy S6 Edge.
If you opt for the Wi-Fi update you will want to make sure you have well over 50% battery life, a solid Wi-Fi connection and some time to kill for it to download and install. The International variant file size was about 623MB and T-Mobile’s weighed in at 631MBs. I would expect the US Cellular variant to be about the same size. Get to updating all.

Samsung shoots down rumours of a Samsung Galaxy S7 coming this year

Yesterday we detailed a rumour that said that the Samsung Galaxy S7 would be released sometime this year. While we didn’t dismiss it completely, we did think it was very, very unlikely – nevertheless, Samsung has decided that it’s enough of an annoyance to come out and make a statement regarding this rumour. In a statement to MobileBurn, a Samsung rep said:
“The company remains committed to launching products in pre-determined launch windows, which includes the S series.”
We’re assuming this means that you can expect Galaxy S and Galaxy Note devices to be released in their respective spots in the year for the foreseeable future, i.e. no Galaxy S7 this year. Despite this statement, we do wonder where the rumoured Galaxy S6 Edge Plus fits into Samsung’s schedule as we’re hearing that it’s just weeks away from release and would be a completely new line of devices for the manufacturer. We’ll keep an eye on this one and let you know if we hear anything.
What do you think about this rumour about the Samsung Galaxy S7? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
