In the realm of Android TV set-top boxes there are a few options to choose from. There is the NVIDIA Shield, the Razor Forge TV and the Nexus Player. The Shield is easily the most powerful with PC game streaming abilities, but also holds the highest price tag, between $200 and $300. The Razor Forge TV comes in a close second with PC game streaming on the horizon for $150 and then there is the device that really started it all from Google, the Nexus Player. Typically this unit new runs a consumer $99.00, but right now the manufacturer of the device, ASUS, has it on sale via their Amazon store page for just $67.68

The Nexus Player brings a fair amount of abilities to a consumers TV. Obviously it streams your favorite media using Netflix, Hulu, Plex, Google Play Movies & TV and the likes. At Google I/O the company announced HBO Now and a few other goodies coming for it too. The device is also a good little casual gaming box as it doe offer users the ability to utilize a gaming controller. Tossing Shadowgun: Deadzone to the big screen TV with a gamepad sure makes things a bit more exciting. It also brings the same casting ability that the Chromecast does.
