Doom 3 - BFG Edition 5

If you’re the lucky owner of a Nvidia Shield Tablet or Shield Android TV, you’ll be happy to know that Doom 3: BFG Edition is now available in the Google Play Store for your devices. The bundle includes the original Doom, Doom 2 and Doom 3, which have all been fine-tuned to work perfectly with Android-compatible gaming controllers. All three of these games also feature achievements, improved rendering and lighting, and a new checkpoint save system.

In case you’re unfamiliar, Doom puts you in a scientific research facility on Mars, where it’s your job to survive demon attacks after an experiment goes wrong. If you’ve never played any of the Doom games before, you’re in for a treat. Turning all of your lights off and your TV volume up is definitely the best way to experience these games. Seriously, it’s just like a horror movie.

In addition, Doom 3: BFG Edition includes a new chapter called “The Lost Mission”, which brings eight creepy levels and a new storyline to Doom 3. The developers say that this new version also includes an armor-mounted flashlight, so players can illuminate dark passages while shooting demons at the same time.

Since these games aren’t made to work with a touch interface, you’ll need a controller to play. The Nvidia Shield Android TV comes with a gaming controller, but owners of the Shield Tablet will need to pick one up before playing. It should be noted that the game comes in at a hefty 4GB, so make sure you have ample space on your device before clicking the buy button. Doom 3: BFG Edition is now available for $9.99 in the Google Play Store.
