Specs and more Images emerge for the Geeksphone Revolution
Picking your OS poison is sometimes a bit of a task. Under normal circumstances you need multiple devices that sport the operating system you need or want. Last month however, there was news of a device by Geeksphone called the Revolution. The company name and the device name aren’t all that interesting, but it is what the device is that is that has us more intrigued.
The Geeksphone Revolution, as it is right now, will be a multi-OS toting device. Allowing you to use Firefox OS or Android. Choices are nice, but implementation is a bit trickier. Reading over the translated page it sounds like you start off with Android as your base and then use Boot2Gecko Mozilla to switch over to Firefox OS. They also state “or any other version of operating systems supported by the community.” Sound like they will make it very user adaptable along with highly developer friendly.
As for specs, it isn’t packing in superphone hardware.
- 4.7-inch qHD IPS screen
- Dual-Core Intel Atom Z2560 processor at 1.6GHz
- 4GB internal storage micro SD slot support
- 1GB RAM
- 8MP rear camera
- 2MP front camera
- 2000 mAh battery
The Geeksphone Revolution is certainly an interesting sounding device. Feel free to bounce on over to Geeksphone website to check it out a bit more and sign up for more details if you are interested.

HTC may launch the M8 with four color options
It’s possible that HTC is due to launch their new flagship soon, especially because the rumors are becoming almost non-stop. Here’s another one, and this time it’s about the new color options.
Thanks to XDA moderator Shen Ye, the M8 should launch with 4 color variants – red, blue, black, and grey. For those paying attention, the colors at launch will be the same colors that the HTC One was released with in 2013. Also, for what it’s worth, the exact color hex codes are #bebebe, #cc0000, #33b5e5, and #414141.
There seem to be a lot of rumors surfacing lately, so it will be interesting to see exactly when HTC will pull back the curtain on this device! Also, if you’d like to check out more rumors on the HTC M8, you can do so, here.

KnowRoaming to start shipping international ‘sticker’ SIMs soon
Frequent travelers who pre-ordered KnowRoaming’s SIM stickers last year might finally be able to get their purchases as soon as next week. According to the company, it’ll start sending out the first units to early adopters on February 5th, months after the original December shipping date. As its name implies, KnowRoaming’s SIM sticker is a thin film that adheres to regular SIM cards. It can, in theory, automatically switch travelers’ connections to local networks when they cross borders, thereby avoiding roaming charges. The firm hasn’t revealed a retail availability yet, but at the rate things are going, it may be best not to hold your breath.
Our first stickers will begin shipping next Wed. through the following week! Be on the lookout for a shipment email pic.twitter.com/QLNu6mqsiJ

Android climbed to 79 percent of smartphone market share in 2013, but its growth has slowed
Android may have quickly reached the top of the smartphone world, but there are signs that this red-hot growth is cooling off… if only just. Strategy Analytics estimates that the platform claimed nearly 79 percent of smartphone market share in 2013. While that’s both a record high and a big step up from almost 69 percent in 2012, it also represents Android’s slowest annual growth rate since its birth. As the analysts note, Google is facing an increasingly saturated market; there are only so many more customers it can reach.
Not that things were rosy for other mobile operating systems last year. Apple shipped more phones in 2013, but not enough to avoid a dip to 15.5 percent market share. Windows Phone grew to 3.6 percent share, although its one-point improvement over 2012 wasn’t going to make Apple or Google nervous. And for smaller platforms, 2013 was downright ugly. BlackBerry, Symbian and others fell from a collective 9.1 percent in 2012 to just 2 percent. The smartphone market in 2014 is effectively a three-horse race, and it’s doubtful that the rankings will change any time soon.

Researchers create ‘programmable’ stem cells through stress
Making stem cells in the lab is typically a complicated process, and there isn’t much variety in the results without resorting to foreign DNA. However, researchers at both Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Japan’s RIKEN may have found a way to easily create most any stem cell a doctor would need. Their new technique subjects adult cells to extreme stress, such as oxygen deprivation. The victims that survive the process retreat into a state much like that of an embryonic stem cell; after that, scientists just have to grow the cells in the right environment to get the stem cells they want. It will be a while before the team tests this process with humans, but it could lead to stem cells tailor-made for specific patients — you’d only have to provide a blood sample to get replacement tissues.

First Images of the LG G Pro 2 Leak
The LG G Pro 2 was made official by LG on Monday, but that was pretty much all we got with the announcement. Today though, we get two images of the new giant phone, that really just looks like a bigger G2.
As you can see from the image taken from behind, the LG G Pro has those rear-facing keys to control volume, or take a picture for those selfie moments. Some specs came with the leak and they include, a 6-inch full HD display and a Snapdragon 800 processor. That is all the candy we get now kids, but as soon as we hear more about this device, we will let you know. In the meantime, let us know what you think of the leaked images.

AT&T Offering $200 Off Cellular iPads With 2-Year Commitment, $100 Off New Lines w/No Contract
AT&T is now offering customers $200 off cellular iPads when added to an existing Mobile Share data plan, with a two-year commitment. It’s one of the best discounts we’ve seen for new iPads and it is available on all iPad models offered by AT&T, including the iPad Air and iPad mini, both with and without Retina display.
The deal combines an existing promotion that offers $100 off tablets with contract and a new promotion that offers $100 bill credits to customers who add a new smartphone or tablet to an existing account.
An AT&T spokesperson confirmed to MacRumors that the two promotions can be used together. $100 of the credit will be applied at purchase while the other $100 will appear as a bill credit within 3 billing cycles. Customers must remain with AT&T for 45 days to receive the bill credit.
A 16GB Retina iPad mini is normally $529, but would be available through the program for $329 after both credits, while the $629 16GB iPad Air would end up at $429.
The promotions are available to all AT&T customers, new and existing, who have or sign up for Mobile Share plans. The $100 bill credit promotion also applies to iPhone purchases when adding a new line, both on-contract and on AT&T’s Next financing plan.
The new $100 bill credit is also available when customers bring their own device. That is, users who already own an iPhone or cellular iPad can open a new line on a Mobile Share plan and receive a $100 bill credit with no commitment beyond 45 days.
Purchases can be made at AT&T retail stores as well as its online store at ATT.com.
U.S. cellular carriers have been in a marketing war in recent months, particularly between T-Mobile and AT&T. Recently, AT&T began a new promotion to offer up to $450 in credits to customers that switch to it from T-Mobile, while T-Mobile launched a similar program offering up to $350 in credits to customers that switch to it.![]()
