The OnePlus 2 will come with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM

by John_A

Another day, another OnePlus 2 specification confirmed by the new smartphone manufacturer. OnePlus has just announced that the OnePlus 2 will feature 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, which will bring faster loading times, smooth gameplay and a slew of energy saving features to the device.

From OnePlus:

Another notable benefit is lower power consumption for better battery efficiency. That means you’ll be able to use your favorite apps (and more) without draining the battery. With LPDDR4, you get twice the bandwidth performance as the LPDDR3 at the same power consumption profile. The RAM of the OnePlus 2 uses a lower operating voltage than its predecessor, decreasing from 1.2V to 1.1V. And with speeds up to 32 GB/s, it is also twice as fast as the LPDDR3.

If you’re still unsure of what LPDDR4 means, or maybe you’d like to dive in a bit deeper, our very own Rob Triggs explained it very clearly in his post LPDDR4 – everything you need to know.

OnePlus also claims that this will be the last OnePlus 2 announcement until the July 27th unveiling, so we’ll have to wait until then to hear anything more from the company. Aside from the 4GB of RAM, the OnePlus 2 will also feature a fingerprint scanner that’s “faster than Touch ID”, a USB Type-C port, a Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor and possibly an all-metal chassis. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has also confirmed that the device will be sold for less than $450.

This is certainly shaping up to be quite the smartphone, and we can’t wait to test it out. Although the OnePlus posts may die down over the next few days, we’ll be sure to let you know if we hear anything regarding the new handset.
